Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - playoff edition

WHAT THE f*** IS UP WITH THIS TEAM AND SHOULDERS!?!?!?!?!?
Interestingly enough, we were top 10 in hits this season.

Maybe we're asking some guys do things that that their bodies weren't made for?

On the hand, tripping into the boards isn't really that kind of physical confrontation? So maybe just bad luck?

Interesting to see Chandler Stephenson, Erik Haula, Adam Henrique, and Ryan Strome on this list. Haula we already have, and the rest are names some people want to replace Haula.
Stephenson 31 years old
Strome 31 turning 32 in July
Haula 34 years old
Henrique 35 years old

No coincidence here in my opinion.

Eh I think that's a bit of a lazy takeaway for lack of a better word.

To be fair, I don't think this tells a ton of story so much as what these players tend to actively be doing at even strength. There's a reason that Kiefer Sherwood is topping this list, he throws a hit every 5 seconds when he's out there. You then have Matvei Mitchkov appearing on the list of guys who don't do a ton of stuff per 60 at 5 on 5, so I don't think it's just an age thing.

I like the idea Justin Bourne had commenting off this in that he's unsure what this truly tells but imagines that if you put a team together of players who do a lot of stuff per 60, they might be a very good team. Who really knows right?

Here's the whole forward list for what it's worth:

Or wear nfl-style shoulder pads

I stay away from analysis that categorically sums up a player’s contributions to “shots and passes.” J Fresh knows this and thus calling this data “Does Stuff” which carries a less authoritative tone.

Anyway, Chandler Stephenson is good and the Kraken were terrible. Both are facts.

I think Stephenson is closer to bad than good now
