Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - playoff edition

There is no way he'd not block a trade to Buffalo, but I agree with the logic - that we should have an easier time trading him after his bonus is paid. If there is a team that is not on his no trade list that is not looking to be a cap team in this rising cap environment, then that would be a great fit.

Maybe he loves Lindy lol

I don't know if that's a given... he's from St Catherines Ontario... he would be like a 30 min drive from there.

I’m definitely fine with letting Allen walk if he gets multi year offers and for more than what we paid him this past year.

Not at all buying Daws. He played good this year, but not so much in previous years and had a weak year in the AHL.

I could totally see us having a big problem if he’s number two.

At the very least I’d like to sign someone else who will be cheaper than Allen. Him and Daws can fight it out.

Spit balling here- I am not one for moving him, so bear with me, but If the Devs were to consider moving on from Dougie (after his $10.5M bonus kicks in of course, leaving $1M in real cash to be paid). A place that is in need of some leadership is Buffalo (I know, I know he has 10 teams which he CAN be traded to). I read in Buf posts online, Owen Power is in need of a vet D partner. They are both big players and DH coudl teach him from his perspective. DH would have to waive and MOST LIKELY won't but there is a fit there. Buf is ready to be a decet team and maybe Lindy welcomes DH. And cheapskate Pegula would have most of his bonus money paid by us. I like DH but many here are reaady to move on because of Luke, who has gotten better but is not ready fully. We need to shed some contracts (Palat is one as well). Not even sure what the return would be, but maybe McLeods rights as a RFA, and add as needed on whatever side you see fit.
Just thinking out loud.
Underlying logic mostly fits, but the issue is when you consider who Dougie is as a player.

Dougie's best fit is on the PP. He won't get PP1 in Buffalo over Dahlin. So, at best, Buffalo is getting a $9 million PP2 QB and a maybe a mentor for Power. I think most fans in Buffalo see a need for a PK guy / defensive stopper type. I think they would LOVE Kovacevic.

But, weirder things have happened. If Dougie and Lindy want to reunite, maybe everyone looks past the positional fit.

Markstrom #1 in Goals Saved Above Expected for the first round (by .1). On the whole, Markstrom was great. It's a shame his worst game came in Game 4 and his worst 5 minutes of the series came in Game 5.

Also, HeLOLbuyck.

Wrong narrative. He sucks and was a waste of the 18th pick, future Hall of Famer Kevin Bahl, and 4M against the cap.

Worst EVER!!!!!

;)

don't love Siegs playing in this tbh since he was clearly still not right after his injury

They said that the risk of reinjury wasn't the issue so much as his conditioning when he was brought back in since he had only one practice leading up to Game 3.

Unfortunately, he had to try and play two 2OT games when he returned. I'm not concerned with it. I imagine if there was any concern from that perspective, they wouldn't let him go.
