isn't that kinda on the player too?
Devs can extend Markstrom this summer. Would you extend him and if so for how much? I would do two more years at the same salary, not sure he would take that, however.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom Shares Thoughts On Potential Extension
During this past off-season, the New Jersey Devils acquired goaltender Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames. This move was undoubtedly needed for the Devils, as they had serious goaltending troubles during the 2023-24 campaign. Thus, adding a star between the pipes like Markstrom was massive...www.yahoo.com
Now that the season is over, eyes should be on Markstrom this summer. The 35-year-old goaltender will be in the final season of his contract in 2025-26, which means that he will soon be eligible to sign a contract extension with the Devils. When speaking to team reporter Amanda Stein, the 2008 second-round pick made it clear that he is open to the idea of signing an extension with New Jersey.
"If Fitzy is calling, I'm answering." Markstrom said.

If Devils fans think that we will find better pk player, I don’t know where we will take him. In smaller role Haula will be good depth player. He just need to be our borderline third-fourth line player, not our borderline second third line player.
I’d be fine with a lot of people replacing BastianI’d be fine with him replacing Bastian

I’m done with Haula. He’s straight-up trash. I’ll be pissed if both he and Palat are back next season. One has to go.I don't care what the numbers say in this case. He's useless.
You can throw all the numbers you want at me about Haula but look at him on the ice during the PK (even strength, PP, warmups, whenever) he's just floating around having no impact and when the puck gets on his stick it's a turnover. Dowling is McDavid in comparison. He's got to go.
I will die on this hill.
That 9m from Dougie already has an owner once its opened upI think the most difficult part about this summer is just moving Dougie to clear the space. I don’t think addressing the forwards with with 9-13 mil is a super difficult task.
There's a historical debate that started Nico's first year that his game is more of a third line center on a championship team than a first OA draft pick. So, along with Lovejoy references, it is a large part of @My3Sons 's sardonic charm that he will forever be a third line center on our depth chart. We got rid of our captain?
It was definitely a dumbass ask by Trotz but obviously Miller's NTC and forcing his way to Broadway was a huge factor in what they got back. When you consider what JT Miller - a far superior player - got in exchange this is unjustifiable. Glad they passed
A $3 million player who only kills penalties at this point isn't worth it, sorry. Bastian is also a useless player who'll do it for half.Btw

He's quite good at killing penalties though. He also wins faceoffs.A $3 million player who only kills penalties at this point isn't worth it, sorry. Bastian is also a useless player who'll do it for half.

I don't much care if Haula is back next year. As a 4c for one more year, I have no issues.
However in a perfect world, I don't think that you're bringing back both Haula and Glass. You'd upgrade 3c and one of them stays and plays 4c. Haula to the Islanders in the package for Pageau could make sense.
Looking at UFA centers….we are probably priced out on Bennett I imagine. I’d think Florida brings him back if all things eye considered relatively equal. It’s tantalizing to think about him as our 3C but I know it’s probably a pipe dream.
Others centers available are Gourde, Granlund, Dvorak….nothing that will get anyone too excited. Donato had a career year and is listed as C but not so sure he is. Do any of these guys interest you or is there anyone else that I haven’t mentioned?
In regards to forwards, we will have Bratt, Gritsyuk, Mercer (if not traded) and Meier (if we ever play him there) at RW. We could really use a LW and if he can play C, it’s a bonus. Ehlers jumps out at me and think he would be perfect for Jack/Bratt. I’m sure he will be cost prohibitive. And this is why you build your team though the draft…Fitzgerald’s gross negligence to the center position in particular is now coming home to roost and there’s no one in the system on his way. But I digress….do not want to take this post off course.
Unless we move out some money, I don't think we are going to be priced into too many of the centers available, tbh.
Mangiapane is a LW who scored 35 goals several season ago. Would be a pretty good linemate for Jack and Bratt. We could do a lot worse.View attachment 1028738
Mangiapane (or Beauvillier who always seems to turn it up in the playoffs) could be some cheap sleeper picks for forward depth this off-season.
