There's no reason to give more than a bag of pucks to trade for Quinn. Maybe a cap dump move though since cap space will be needed, that would be fine. Hamilton or Meier.

Have the folks saying the Devs should/can open next season with Glass as the 3C opened their eyes yet? This dude is brutal aside from faceoffs (which this team needs tbf). 4C is fine. Anything more than that and it'll be another unserious season.

Bastian
Cotter
Hamilton (because of the cap hit)
Haula
Lazar
Mercer
Tatar

And every player I have not heard of before this season like Dowling.

Don't care to see any of them next year. Though I'm not exactly sure what Fitz can do. It's not like build a bottom 6 is some easy task else every team in the league would have one. But I do feel like ours might be one of the worst...

What about Quinn Hughes for Nemec, Hamilton and 1 rd pick.

It’s fair when dealing with only one buyer and it will fit cap wise
I have no clue why people think Quinn will be any cheaper than that, unless the idiots in Vancouver let him walk to UFA, like they appear to be doing with Boeser. I think that’s fair.
Swap nemec for Casey.
That’s fine, but if it comes down to Nemec or no Quinn then I say just give up Nemec. It’s Quinn Hughes.

I think the difference between including Casey vs Nemec, to me, at least, is this.

Casey if traded to a team where opportunity to run an offense and PP is there to turn into an excellent dman who puts up very very nice point numbers and is very productive (especially as one of the better PPQBs in the league) And looking back we will look "silly" for trading him, based on what he does with his new team.

Keeping Nemec helps our team more. He won't ever run a PP, he won't ever put up gaudy numbers, and I don't think he's going to be eating 25 minutes a night on our team. But I fully expect him to be an EXCELLENT dman who helps us tilt the ice EV.

Get me Nemec on a Vlasic or Guhle contract asap

Why is everyone trading for Quinn? Wait two seasons when he becomes a UFA. Just need to free up cap space by then.
If someone who isn't an idiot is in charge of Vancouver by then, they may not even let him get to UFA. I'm not even sure the current idiots would let it happen like they appear to be doing with Boeser.

If we have to trade for him then we have to trade for him.

It's Quinn Hughes, not Brock Boeser or some second pairing defenseman.

I think his qualifying offer is $2.5 for two years. Is a 4C worth that price? Could he be their 3C?

If they can make the cap work. I would love to see Dumoulin signed and Dillon sent somewhere. He has been fantastic defensively and have been impressed with his skating and transition.
I'd be worried we give him a 3 year deal like we did Dillon and then are looking to dump him in another year. I've seen the "guy comes in has a good year and then drops off" movie a few too many times in recent years. Although if we're basically replacing Dillon's money with Dumoulin's I'd be okay with it.

Dillion has a full no trade. He isnt going anywhere.
If you wanted to get nasty I think you could threaten him with waivers.

In terms of a more civil approach. "Hey, we want to put nemec in the lineup next year and that leaves you as the 7D. If you want a regular spot next year we can work to get you to somewhere you can play. Let us know some places you're open to and we can work from there"

He simply may not sign there because he wants to play with his brothers, period.

Scott did it to us to go play with Rob.
I'd like to get him as soon as we can and not in 2027.

That's better than nothing, but I'd be willing to pay to get him while he's still on this cheaper contract and while Nico is still on this cheaper, bargain contract.

It's important to contend while we still have Nico at this bargain of a contract. And his contract ends the same year Quinn's does.

I've never been worried about Nico staying, rather I just think it's important we're contending WHILE he's still on this very good contract.
