Any Devil fan that thinks we shouldn't get Quinn is delusional, if you have the chance to get one of the best players in the league you do it.
He missed 14 games and would be our second leading scorer, from defense. How does Quinn fix our forward issues?
This is our Matthew Tkachuk dealA lot of Nucks fans are in denial about the situation they're in. It's unfortunate for them but they're screwed in getting anything close to an equal return for Quinn.
Replace Silayev with Hamilton, if we can get him to waive. You don't split hairs over the cost of acquiring a player like Quinn, you win any trade by virtue of him being undoubtedly the best player in it.
Yes we have other holes to address, but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth if Vancouver seriously considers trading him before he hits UFA.
Mercer + Silayev + Nemec/Casey + a future 1st and something to balance out the cap (Palat/Dillon etc).
You can always find depth forwards, you cannot always find a Quinn Hughes.
I would make that deal in a heartbeat. I’d be disappointed to trade our Russian unicorn in a deal though. I like this one does not have him going the other way.Replace Silayev with Hamilton, if we can get him to waive.
Mercer + Hamilton + Nemec is doable.
this notion that this core "can't fight through adversity" is kind of funny considering what they did 2 years ago in the playoffs vs the Rangers. Its like people just choose to ignore that series and how it transpired.
I don't know about "fighting through adversity" but this core has not produced results. No one is denying they won a playoff series TWO years ago however, since then what's happend? Lost a play off series they didn't compete in, missed the playoffs and have had 3 head coaches and made the playoffs as an underachieving 3 seed this year and didn't compete in game 1 at all.this notion that this core "can't fight through adversity" is kind of funny considering what they did 2 years ago in the playoffs vs the Rangers. Im 100% on the phone with Rutherford this offseason trying to make it happen no matter how this first round plays out.
I disagree with that. They've hardly played in the playoff
gotta look at whole body of work. They should be much futher along.I disagree with that. They've hardly played in the playoffs.
How does Quinn fix our forward issues?
A Norris trophy caliber defensemen makes this team a contender. When Dougie was near that heights two years ago the team out up 110 points (and just happened to be in a division with two other teams that out up similar point totals).
But Quinn isn’t coming here in the next two years. Trading him is a fireable offense for Rutherford and Allvin. It isn’t going to happen until Quinn rejects a contract extension first.
They already planted those seeds. There's 2 scenarios at play here:
Option A: Vancouver does business as usual this summer and tries to show Quinn that they're serious with him as a team, make the comparison of the 2019 Devils offseason where the Devils went all in to show Taylor Hall that they wanted to sign him long term, Petterson rebounds and they're a legit good team like they were in 23-24 and he re-signs somewhat long term like his past deal while keeping the door open for the brothers to keep the playing dream on hold for a few years.
Option B: They fully implode next year, management has to save face and trade him to a contender in 2027 before his UFA and they get boat raced in a package since everyone in league circles knows he's headed to NJ.
All this is dependent on Elias Petterson the most. If you're a Devils fan, you're hoping he has a mediocre year once again and the Canucks miss the playoffs.
I think today's events has expedited the Quinn situation, I think the odds are very good of Quinn getting moved this summer and most likely to here. They already planted those seeds. There's 2 scenarios at play here:

Rutherford’s “tampering” comment at the end is concerning to me for some reason…

Dunno, just thought it sounded fishy…Why? There is nothing he can do to get the brothers there. Luke can't be offer sheeted and we aren't trading either of them
