He had a song written about him and then he had to spend the rest of his life having a good relationship with Sean while also hating Yoko.

Meanwhile, Yoko moved to Cali to live out her life on a farm...

Whatever happened to Julian?
He put out a nice slate of records that sadly did not chart well after the debut record here in the U.S., but Photograph Smile could be a John Lennon record and "I Don't Wanna Know" single from that record was very Beatles. Saltwater previous to that was an international hit single except here. He just put a record out a couple of years ago - he isn't prolific but he doesn't have to be

He did a song a few years ago with Steven Tyler where he was allowed to sample "Baby You're a Rich Man" so he's still got some connections to the Beatles despite his saying that he is not an insider. I know he and Paul interact sometimes but Paul has said they have yet to sit down and have the big heart to heart that they'd both like to do.

Yep. I think it's just that he's more or less boxed out of his father's business, and that's kinda sad. He's a talented guy, Julian. Sean less so IMO.

Which for the 100th time is exactly why the Kovacevic contract was moronic. Unjustifiably stupid when factoring in the roster construction, RD depth, 25 movement clauses, and trash forward prospects. And I liked the Kovy acquisition from day 1.....extension still made ZERO sense for this team unless it was a sweetheart deal. But per usual, Fitz overpaid the shit out of him and gave him a NMC instead of moving him for a 1st+ or a decent prospect. Anyone thinking Kovy wouldn't have gotten that this year didn't pay attention to the deadline at all.

Fitz has no idea how to value players $$$ wise. He also has no clue how to factor TIMING into roster construction. So this org is pretty much f'd unless they suddenly start drafting well OR Jack Hughes stops getting hurt AND further rounds out his C game. Tom Fitzgerald is a moron and a bottom 5 GM in this league. People applaud him for course correcting easily foreseeable issues a year too late....back against wall...and getting bent over a barrel or panic overcorrecting. It's ridiculous.
Value for Kovacevic is fine, likely looks terrific once some of the ugly contracts start rolling in with the new cap.

I think all along the expectation was to move Dougie this summer to fit in Luke. Kovacevic just made that easier.

I’ll hold off judgement on the decision to extend Kovacevic based on what Fitzgerald does in the off-season. If he gets a solid asset or two out of Hamilton, it makes a ton of sense. If he sells low on Hamilton to fit Luke, I’d be quite annoyed.
Begs the question: Would we look to attach Palat in a Nemec deal? Lessening the return but opening up the cap space?
Absolutely not.

Based on the way cap dumps are going and Nemec’s struggles this year, you would basically eliminate all of Nemec’s value.
out.

Why "absolutely not" without know potential returns?
You’re diminishing Nemec’s value by moving him with Palat. Palat has negative value with his contract and play. Nemec has value but that’s likely diminished a bit with a poor season this year.

The only way it could possibly make sense is if it’s Nemec + Palat for another prospect + cap dump. It’s such a niche deal that would have to work out that it’s incredibly unlikely it would happen.

You’re better off moving them separately

If Palat is negative value then it will cost us to move him whether it is with Nemec or separate.

Granted this is more of an offseason discussion the playoff prep discussion. So I won’t belabor the point.

We’re getting ahead of ourselves with the Quinn number discussion, but it’s entertaining lol.

I believe he also wore #7 at the WJC.

Personally, I see the Quinn situation going one of two possible ways.

Either he comes here as a UFA or signs an extension that ends when Jack's contract ends.

I think Luke's contract will be a good indicator of their long term plans as a family. If he signs an extension that goes beyond Jack's current expiration, we're golden. If it goes until Jack's ends... Not so great. The brothers could time this to try and sign as a unit wherever they want, all at the same time...

Do they want to tie their family legacy to New Jersey? We'll see.

Pretty sure Luke's deal will either be 8 years or a bridge, I'm pretty confident it'll be 8 years though. Jack has 5 years left.
We should believe in Luke as an organisation. He is productive even if not consistent. He is already can produce 50 points. And play many minutes. Im not telling 11.5 mil believe but if he wants to have 9+ no matter what for 8 years - just do it. He isn't that far from having 60+ points so with his abilities and skills he will worth it soon. Or at least will help to land other brothers.

It will be difficult to both get Vancouver to accept that instead of just cashing out knowing he is timing his contract to leave along with the issue that they cant time it so Luke can also leave.

If Quinn really wants to play with his brothers, the easiest solution is to come here or wait a long time

If Luke doesn't have arbitration rights as I remember, it will take time. Especially how cheap both deals of Brothers Hughes are looking.

I tend to think the holdup will be about term. My guess is Luke’s agent (his dad for all intents and purposes) will push hard for five years while NJ will want 8. Maybe they compromise at 6 years .

He should think about he will be young enough to sign one more long term deal. 8+8 is better than 6+8. I do really think that he should think twice about shorting his term. And the first 8 have more guaranteed money than first 6. Salary will be higher for 8 years too.
