I kid due of course. Fantastic season by Bratt and a well earned nomination.
Looking forward to seeing Bratt in the postseason (yes folks, behind all that doom we have postseason hockey coming up). I think that added physicality he has added this season will go a long way against Carolina.

Let’s be real, having to carry Ondrej Palat up and down the ice for 80% of the season warrants a nomination and probably a cookie.

re: Montreal I do think this is their 2018 Devils type of season in the rebuild where they get to the playoffs on vibes...but they also have a much better chance against the Caps than we did against Tampa lol

They have all the pieces mostly. A couple of players just need to join them in near future(Reinbacher, Hage, may be Beck will become NHL regular). In 2018 we were in the beginning of rebuild, we just didnt know about it.

Bratt got some love for best overall skater. Pretty good company, even with just 1.88% of the 640 votes. Behind McDavid, Makar, MacKinnon and Quinn Hughes.
Maybe it was all his teammates.

This just proves to me that players are a year or two behind the curve lol. Most of the answers make sense but a lot don’t.

Montreal are merely a symptom of how weak the East truly is this year.
I honestly hope Columbus gets in over them. It will be the only time I cheer for Columbus.
But Columbus would also be a symptom of how weak the East is.
I’d have to say the Rangers are better than both teams on paper and if the season went how it was supposed to go the Rangers would probably be the final team in and neither of Montreal and Columbus would make it.
Because don’t even tell me you would have bet the Rangers out at the expense of either Montreal or Columbus before the season began.
But f*** the Rangers anyway.

I feel Montreal is getting more hype than they should as an 8 seed. Probably bc they're a Canadian team (also my Habs fan friend sending me constant posts on instagram is also fueling it).
Looking back to the last few 8 seed runs. Florida '23, Montreal '21, Nashville '17. Florida and Montreal were both very good analytics teams that were solid teams across the board. They finished lower than they should of because of mediocre goaltending. Just so happened their hall of fame caliber goalies remembered who they were come playoff time. Nashville '17 were above average in every category. Once again their very good goalie stood on his head, plus they got lucky with Gibson getting injured in the WCF when he was posting a .940 SV%.
Less data available but LA in '12 were at a 55 CF% with great goaltending and only finished so low because they shot 7% in the regular season.
This Montreal team has below average analytics and goaltending but are treading water as a solid finishing team. I don't think Montembault has it in him to put on a performance on the level of Bob, Price, Rinne or Quick. Maybe this Dobes kid is something but I'd be shocked if a kid with 16 NHL games starts stealing playoff games. Also can't really see a team with Alex Newhook and Christian Dvorak as 2C and 3C make a run.

Florida was 6th in 5v5 goal differential that year. MTL was 17th, but I usually omit the COVID seasons from most analysis. NSH was 8th. Devs are currently 17th and have trended down for those who care.
MTL is 27th this year
