And what today’s news, Lou Lamoriello is the only former Devils (Scouts and Rockies too) general manager still living.
And Lou and Tom are the only living people to serve as Devils GM.
He will always be fondly remembered as the GM who had the stones to add Ben Lovejoy. Rest in peace and I hope he didn’t suffer. He seemed like a genuinely nice person .
Just the way Shero handled Taylor Hall alone was a net positive…the initial trade, the heart to heart after his first season when Shero wanted to know if Hall was all in, then not giving in on a long term extension and working out a nice cash out trade when the time came to part ways.
I almost forgot Siegs was 'part' of that trade lol
The Hughes #1 was pretty much a slam dunk aside from a few people on this board who wanted to hype up Kakko and make a parallel with the Nico draft, but the Nico draft was definitely having a conviction against the pre-draft grain and following through on it.
I don't even know how much we can slag him for Hynes given he's gotten two jobs since us and is still gainfully employed himself, ironically for Minnesota. Obviously he stayed with him too long here, but I'm not sure firing him sooner and replacing him with Nas would have made any appreciable difference in 2019-20.Shero had some bad thrown into his tenure (cough cough John Hynes) but he got the team on the right track. I'm honestly surprised that he passed, and it seems like I'm not alone. Was he suffering from something in secret?
