Being in Middlesex county, I would have loved to see them in New Brunswick. Train Station, Turnpike, Rt 1, Rt 18 and a college town to boot.

Nothing wrong with being selfish about it lol but from an overall fans aspect that would mean tons of people would have much longer train rides since they would have to take their lines to Newark Penn or Secaucus Junction just to transfer to the Northeast corridor line.

That's really increasing a lot of people's travel times and since it's only one line those trains would be packed after games. On weekdays people would really be getting home late too and it would absolutely hurt attendance.

Ah, he is busy with more important things. Makes sense now

If Harris-Blitzer still have the team, they need to find a place they can pretend wants the team to squeeze more concessions out of Newark. I've brought this up before, but I will never forget when Harris was dedicating the Brodeur statue he said it would be here forever and then corrected himself to say 'for 20 years'.

There's no way the team is moving out of Newark - it is by far the most logical location for this team, as it's the most convenient for fans to get into whether using public transportation or driving. The area surrounding the arena has also been built up decently.

Not even sure what would be a runner-up location. Hoboken? Even when they floated the idea 25 years ago to put an arena there, it would've been a nightmare driving in and out and having enough parking - and things have only gotten worse since then. Jersey City - adds a good chunk of extra commuting time for most fans whether driving or using public transportation as you'll have to also take the PATH. New Brunswick - not sure it's a good idea to relocate the team that far away and there's only one train line going in, which runs infrequently.

Hard to believe the team would seriously entertain the idea of moving out of Newark unless they want concessions from the city for a new arena or upgrades.

I always wondered where the majority of fans come from. I would guess it’s from central jersey, but I could be way off

honestly move it back to the meadowlands

also how many fans really are taking the train to the games? honest question

Very few actually want the arena back in the Meadowlands except the few weirdos who said they were never going to a game again when the team moved to Newark.

I don't know the exact numbers cause I don't think they even publish that info but it's definitely in the thousands. You can always see a large amount of people walking to and from the train station before/after the games.

Overall, I understand why this season feels disappointing. In some ways it is, especially after the month of December they had.

With that being said, making the playoffs is an improvement. The team has played better hockey since the trade deadline, and if they play their game, I think they can bring it to the Canes. I have 0 expectations though.

I think this year can be seen as progress. To me, the future of this group is still bright. The core is producing and imo is a solid one. We have more young players that will join in the next little while that should help extend our window (Casey, Silayev, Gritsyuk, Nemec, Lenni, etc.) . Our D structure overall is better and more sustainable.

To me, the off-season plan is pretty clear. Bottom-6 scoring, Bottom-6 scoring, Bottom-6 scoring. This imo is the biggest hole. Scoring depth (3C, bottom-6 wingers, etc.). This needs to be fixed. Another top-6 winger would be nice, but I think that this team could be very successful with a fixed bottom-6. The top end is very solid imo.

This season has been tough, but I feel the boys have showed resiliency and have faced adversity pretty well. They easily could’ve crumbled out of a spot, especially with important injuries, but they stuck through it and they deserve some credit for that. I also like what Keefe is bringing.

Overall, I feel like this season was a step in the right direction, which clearly showed what needs to be done.

I'm from upstate New York and get into the city to spend the night and take the Penn to Penn train in, usually whoever I'm with does the same and I don't really know anyone at the games ever. So if I was to extrapolate out of that with everyone I know, it's about 100% but I'd say it 95% of everyone who goes to the game takes the train in, to be safe and leave room for margin of error.

Yes! I keep reminding myself that they were awful last season. They weren't even close to making the playoffs.

They have been in a playoff spot all season. Plus, they aren't a wild card team. Progress! With injuries and lack of forward depth, I don't see them going far. However, they're making the playoffs. This is great news.
