Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - part VI

I searched Xwitter for this, and had to read dumb ass posts from annoying posters, so you owe me lol.

This seems to be the source and Fitz never says which center with term he’s talking about. (Hopefully not Laughton for f***’s sake)

Edit: Coyle was also another center w/ term who was traded.

Gunther being there in person is neat if you like WWE.

Ugh I was hoping there was at least some signs of regression there that the Devils may be able to capitalize on their overreliance of him as a shutdown 3C.

Let’s hope whatever this injury he’s out with right now might slow him down because I do fear he could neutralize Hischier at evens in a hard matchup situation.

I think this Devils team has a lot more bite to them and experience that they aren’t going to be pushed around physically like they did in 2022-23. I think they’ll go toe-toe with the Hurricanes in that regard.

I just worry about their pressure being overwhelming to a team that might not have the offensive skillset to play through it, especially if the matchups don’t go our way.

My worry isn't about physicality. My worry is how they will handle the Canes (and any other team) cheating in the playoffs. This team has yet to learn how to deal with that and also do it themself. They're too much of a saint and / or that little child who tries to look innocent but is terrible at it.

So many positives coming out of the victory against the Rangers. The play of Seamus Casey is one of the biggest positives from the game. If he continues to be at least decent defensively and not make the egregious mistakes that Nemec does, he should jump Nemec on the depth chart for good. Unlike Nemec, he hasn’t sulked at all about not playing with the big club. In fact, he’s been the polar opposite. The kid is special and I’m a fan.

Keefe finally gave him some well-deserved praise (see article).

What do we do next year if Casey is ready for a full time role? The long term solution is parting ways with Hamilton but that’s not going to happen yet (maybe 2026). Along with Kovo and Pesce, Seamus is blocked. Good potential problem to have.

No need to worry about Casey being ready for a full time role next year. He's 5'10 with skates and maybe 165lbs. He's miles away physically.
