I guess he can get 90/90!For like two weeks, yeah. Impressive for a ballerina who avoids contact.

And Kochetkov’s basically the last two games off the top of my head. Both last night and in the win (in spite of him) against the Islanders. If you want some hope vs Canes, look at Andersens highlights from tonight’s game
I always remember Doc saying if you add your PK and PP ranking together and it’s under 10, you’re doing something right.

Agreed, this last game for example, if Shesterkin makes a couple of big saves and Marky makes a couple less then the discussion would be about how crappy the Devils played yesterday. It's nice that the Devils are winning games, but I don't think they're playing that much better than they were when they weren't winning games - the real lesson here is that a lot of times, there isn't a fundamental difference between winning and losing in hockey.
Markstrom is playing like the goalie he's supposed to be which he wasn't the previous few weeks as well. That helps. It's nice that the Devils are winning games, but I don't think they're playing that much better than they were when they weren't winning games - the real lesson here is that a lot of times, there isn't a fundamental difference between winning and losing in hockey.
Casey as the #4 RHD who plays in Utica is a great situation for the team and one I think Casey will be fine with next year.So many positives coming out of the victory against the Rangers. The play of Seamus Casey is one of the biggest positives from the game. If he continues to be at least decent defensively and not make the egregious mistakes that Nemec does, he should jump Nemec on the depth chart for good. Unlike Nemec, he hasn’t sulked at all about not playing with the big club. In fact, he’s been the polar opposite. The kid is special and I’m a fan.
Keefe finally gave him some well-deserved praise (see article).
What do we do next year if Casey is ready for a full time role? The long term solution is parting ways with Hamilton but that’s not going to happen yet (maybe 2026). Along with Kovo and Pesce, Seamus is blocked. Good potential problem to have.

It took one game for Seamus Casey to take Simon Nemec's lineup spot for good
"Unbelievable pass" was how New Jersey Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe described Seamus Casey's pass to Timo Meier that led to his third-period goal that made tpucksandpitchforks.com
Ya, Markstrom's play has had some wild swings, and that has been a big effect on wins and losses, especially post injury.Markstrom is playing like the goalie he's supposed to be which he wasn't the previous few weeks as well. That helps.

Ya execution. Especially on the PP. And goal tending.I think they are executing their finishing plays a lot better, and also not panicking on the D zone as much compared to 2 weeks ago. Pace of play is up.
The structure itself looks similar but they are playing with more speed and crisper.
I think we were all a little wary(some more then others) of continuing to play Markstrom through his struggles, but it looks to be paying off.
I'm guessing you are talking about this little 4-1 run we are on?
Devils are executing on the PP. League best 33% shooting percentage. Good for 4-0 goal differential in those 5 games on the PP.
They are also staying out of the box, under 3 minutes per game, good for 2nd least in the league, and are 2 ga vs 2 gf during that stretch. We've had a good PK all season and Bratt (Hughes as well before his injury) has been made us dangerous on the counter attack.
So +4 on special teams in this 5 game stretch. And special teams, especially PP is about execution. PK, as Dano will often tell us is very dependent on goal tending.
The Devils have also been "bad" all season while protecting leads in the 3rd. And by "bad" I mean they get beat up in terms of shots, which skews the overall numbers.
So I think there are some very distinct fundamental differences during this win streak.

I don't remember where or when, but Seamus said he understood he had lots to learn and if NJ wanted him to play the rest of this year and the next as well he was okay with that.So many positives coming out of the victory against the Rangers. Your inability to look beyond the absolute basics is impressive.Your post is a long way of saying that you win games when you score more goals than your opponent. I do know that already.
Devils special teams have played well all season, that actually hasn’t changed for the most part. But they’ve definitely had better games recently than yesterday, the fact they still won comfortably says more about the Rangers than us imoYour inability to look beyond the absolute basics is impressive.
