I think, for me, the injuries have been a real bummer, losing 2 top 4 defenseman and your top offensive forward is basically a death blow to any team. So I’m just grinding out the regular season emotionally.

That’s all going to change game 1 of the playoffs. Anything can happen in a 7 game series. Let’s have some guys get hot, let’s suffocate teams defensively, let’s be PP merchants.

This roster can still win a 7 game series against anyone. I wouldn’t bet on them to win the the series against Carolina but they can and I’m going to be pumped to see them shock the world.

Yeah I think once we get to game 1 I'll be a little more excited and if the Devils happen to score the first goal I'll just shoot through the roof and be 100% amped and ready to go haha.

I'm right there with you. It's felt like this season has dragged on for the past couple of months due to our difficult stretch and all the injuries that have followed. But in all truthfulness, we've essentially been playing playoff hockey for the past 3 weeks and every game has had a level of importance to it. Sure, we all kind of expected the eventual outcome of the Winnipeg game, but the majority of them have had an antsy playoff feel for me at least.

It's been a while since I've reacted as strongly in watching a game as I did on Saturday when Nico took it all by himself and rifled his second goal post and in. My wife and son were startled for a second. :laugh:

I really miss being a kid and just watching the Devils and cheering for them with no worries or thoughts about the cap, injuries, play style, XGF and all that. Just watching the games and moving onto the next one. Nowadays everything is under a microscope as a hardcore fan.

“Yeah but the Wild kinda suck lately and are banged up.”
“Love seeing them fight back and win after a tough loss.”
“Yeah but they’ve been mediocre at best since Christmas and are gonna get smoked by Carolina.”

At this point I’m going to do my best to enjoy the ride. Easier said than done lol but dammit I’ll try

I can't point to only one team that has won the cup in the last 10 years with one or fewer superstar. Florida (Barkov, Tkachuk, Reinhart), Vegas (tbh probably wouldn't call anybody on that year's team a true superstar), Avs (MacK, Rantanen, Makar), TBL (Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Hedman, Vas), WSH (Ovy, Backstrom, Carlson), Pit (Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Letang). All of those forwards are probably better than Bratt, almost certainly better than Nico, and all those defenders are better than the Devils' defensemen, at least currently.

And then you look at the other 'best-in-the-league' candidates and see how many cups they've won: McDavid/Draisaitl (crazy that they're on the same team): 0; Marner/Matthews: 0; Panarin: 1 (when he was a youngster and not a main player on that Blackhawks squad); Kaprizov (still early): 0.

Kucherov is the second best player in NHL of the modern era. He is playing without Draisaitl(Stamkos wasnt on the level with Draisaitl and now isnt playing for tb at all) and he is the only one who can win art ross against McDavid without McDavid. And should win harts because he is really much more important. He is second best player in pts per game after McDavid after McDavids time starts in NHL(McDavid 1.51 pts\game, Kucherov 1.36, MacKinnon and Draisaitl 1.26). And he is very rare player who achieved two consecutive 30+ play offs(Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Nikita Kucherov) and 100 assists in one season(Gretzky, Kucherov, McDavid, Orr, Lemieux).

There are no "Why some would", objective reality he isnt in "that MacK / Drai / possibly even Matthews pantheon''. He is objectively above. As McDavid who is in his own tier.

Lets hope Jack will be some kind of 0.8+ of Kucherov and we will be very happy.

I’ve been talking shit for weeks now. Our bottom 6 center depth is embarrassing. It’s unserious. I can’t take Tom Fitzgerald serious, and WE deserve better.

You mean to tell me after 1 center goes down, Dowling is our 3C? I don’t want to hear anything about Jack or Nico being generational talents. Nothing. You cannot be a serious team with Dowling and Lazar centering your third and fourth lines. Sean Kuraly might be a 2C on this team.

Enough is enough. No more self-deprecating or hating each other, we can collectively agree to get rid of Fitz.

Look I love to hate on Fitz but saying 1 Center goes down and Dowling is our 3C. But its both Jack and Glass out now.

No NHL team has unlimited depth. When you lose your #1 and then the #3 you just traded for, of course you will have someone shitty get bumped up.

Back in the day I knew a guy who owned a trotter named Big Bad Nick he told me to bet his horse it was ready I wheeled him with the field and won a ton. after that I went to the track slot seeing how easy it was . I never won another race🤣

I can’t even bring myself to say I want Fitz fired only because I have zero trust in this organization to hire the right replacement. They’d probably just promote Marty, despite him likely being part of the problem.
