its really boring that the team has been locked into a matchup with the canes for about 4 months now. the devils coaching staff should absolutely be cooking up film on how to beat them.

Everyone knows he is here to bring it in the playoffs. You want him coming playoffs healthy. That's probably the only thing he is interested in to be honest; to deal with nagging small injuries before the playoffs, avoid new ones and come out ready.

I’m actually feeling a little more DC. Circa 1985.Glass Sprong sounds like an underground 1980's new york punk band.
Thats what everyone here is hoping for... That the Canes are already "playing for the cup" and the Devils play to beat them.its really boring that the team has been locked into a matchup with the canes for about 4 months now. the devils coaching staff should absolutely be cooking up film on how to beat them.
i dont know if i would call them meaningless totally but i get it. if they really wanted to fix this and get movement in the divisions then they really need to focus on playing more games in the division. i know i've said it a ton on here but its legit insane we have out of conference games going on right nowWell, that's a little biased because of the Prague trip. There were only two teams in the league who played games on Day 1 of the season, and Buffalo sure as hell wasn't making the playoffs.
Still, goes to show that those "meaningless" games in October-December actually matter. We banked enough points early in the season to get ourselves a comfortable cushion and that cushion saved our ass.
2 points are 2 points. They don't ask how, they ask how many.
And Parise would never leave because he was the captain....and Niedermeyer would never leave because he was the captain....I love twitter. Some jackass said that Quinn would never come here because he’s the captain…like a piece of fabric in the shape of a “c” would ever keep me from playing with my two brothers.
Setting the ground work for having teams eventually looking like this.thank gary for the playoff format
while we're at it....thank him for the lockouts, trapazoid, euro game stupidity, shootouts, digital board ads and ya, i'll say it....two week four nonsense tournament break
did i miss anything?

i get the gary hate from everyone but hes honestly only doing his job that his employers the owners want him to do. i would probably be doing the same thing if i was in his spot. i will also always give him credit for holding the line at 16 team playoffs

Like one of the bands that was playing with bands like Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring, Embrace, etc.
Hadn't punk moved to LA by the mid 1980s? the NYC punk era to me runs from about 1975 with the NY Dolls and the Ramones and then sort of tails off once Blondie and Talking Heads transitioned to pop acts.I’m actually feeling a little more DC. Circa 1985.

Maybe they will treat him like they did Trevor Linden.I love twitter. Some jackass said that Quinn would never come here because he’s the captain…like a piece of fabric in the shape of a “c” would ever keep me from playing with my two brothers.
OK, now you are just making things up.those or like mid 90s bands like snatchblaster or assaulted vulva
I remember snatchblaster... big in the 90s. But then there was that penicillin overdose. Shame. They never were as good as the Violent Crabs. Always upstaged.those or like mid 90s bands like snatchblaster or assaulted vulva

Well there were scenes in a lot of cities, but the punk was starting to go into different types of offshoots. The punk out of DC in the early 80s was mostly considered “hardcore” or “hardcore punk”. Henry Rollins was from DC and was in a couple of bands like that before singing in Black Flag.Hadn't punk moved to LA by the mid 1980s? the NYC punk era to me runs from about 1975 with the NY Dolls and the Ramones and then sort of tails off once Blondie and Talking Heads transitioned to pop acts.
I think this game being on Saturday is fine, but the last game being on a Monday afternoon which wasn’t even a holiday was kind of weird. That was on the 23rd and not everyone had off for Christmas Eve Eve. I thought that was a weird day for a matinee game.the two devils home games against the rangers are both afternoon games on the weekend actually one was on a monday. make it make sense man! these games are guarantee sellouts stick them during a week night. when i used to go to games more often the two games i always hated the most 1 rangers afternoon games 2 playoff afternoon games
Clearly there's always going to be some continuation but I guess my impression was that the punk scene in LA produced popular groups that went beyond the club scene while in NY that era had sort of ended and as you've noted, what qualified as punk in that area was less popular than it had been. I think something happened when the Clash played at Bonds. Somehow after that American punk just didn't stay as widely listened to in NY. In contrast, in LA you had Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, etc. I do regret not seeing the Clash.Well there were scenes in a lot of cities, but the punk was starting to go into different types of offshoots. By the mid 80s a lot of those DC bands were a bit different. Not as fast playing as the first half of the 80s bands. Rites of Spring and Embrace almost combined (2 Rites members and one Embrace) to form Fuguzi a couple of years later. And Embrace (and later Fugazi) was also fronted by Ian MacKaye, who had done Minor Threat in the early 80s.
But yeah, the punk bands in New York and Boston by the mid 80s were associated with the hardcore scene. Some of those bands even crossed over into metal. There were even a couple that totally morphed into butt rock/ballad radio bands. Only they weren’t actually being played on the radio.
