Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - part V

Weirdest thing about Miles Wood was that as others mentioned he was a low IQ player which also led to him being a poor playmaker and passer 99% of the time but once in a blue moon he would make some crazy pass from behind the net or the corner to a guy driving the net or wide open in the slot. I wonder if it was sheer luck or if he managed to actually use his brain at times

I miss posting this

Love these guys but branding it as a Devils once a week podcast and only talking about the Devils for like 5 mins out of the 75 was annoying lol. I am not going to listen again if it’s like that.

It's funny that it's going to be under the Devils umbrella because they had this show last year and talked about the whole league. I don't mind if that's what they do personally because I love these two as well, but I imagine they'll have some current or former Devils on during some episodes too.

Wait, people are pining to have Miles Wood back? What the heck?
It's year two and that contract is predictably already terminally ill.

4 points/2 goals in 29 games, missed over half the games this year due to injury.

Miles Wood from a few years back would be pretty sweet right about now. Current Miles Wood is basically bone dust.

Almost literally. That hip socket is probably close to bone on bone.

I'll give it a listen, but one thing I never have a shortage of is plenty of podcasts/YouTube videos I watch.

People actually listen to/watch the hockey buzz podcast (Eklund and friends lol) on YouTube, so this one can't be that bad.

As long as you know what you're getting, I think you'll be cool with it.

They do tell a good little story about Bratt impressing them every year and when he made it in camp as a rookie.

Me waiting for the NJ content in those 70 mins:

Hah I thought this was a debut and they've never done the show before. I do wonder why we're promoting it if it is around the league, just doing a solid to two guys who were (at least off the ice) pros for us?

Its been a while but the Danometer is down to a 3 for me.

This is the minimum score for me due to the injuries. I am happy they have righted the ship considering all of these circumstances. Let’s hope for some more magic down the stretch and into the playoffs.

I'm closer to a 4 just because of the Markstrom uncertainty and it seems there's always somebody behind us on some kind of heater. Montreal rather than the Rangers or Blue Jackets is best case, as they can't possibly pass us without a Metro team passing us first. Maybe I'm at 3.5 right now.

Kinda seems that way  I wonder if they couldn't get someone to pick it up because they hadn't done anything since the end of last season with it. Figured maybe they just decided to focus on their stuff with the network and taking on other analyst roles, but I'm always glad to hear from these two. My sister went to BC when they were both there, so we were always fans and extra thrilled they both became Devils at one point.

Fun fact: She got me a BC jersey as a gift one year. When we got Cory, I had him sign it. When we happened to get Boyle years later, he signed the other shoulder. A cool little memento.

Other fun fact: There was a time that my sister got left at a bar in Boston by the friends she showed up with. Her and a few others got a lift back to campus from Boyle. Who knows how sober he was, but he got them home safely.

I'm about a 1 as far as worrying about making the playoffs at this point, beating Columbus twice with the Rangers imploding did a lot to lengthen the margin for error - but still pretty blase about the team as a whole not believing this group can really do anything IN the playoffs.

It's like we're stuck in limbo at this point...which is better than the four-alarm fire missing the playoffs would have been, but still sucks in comparison to how much promise the season had in late December.

Well I guess now would be the time for Alex to announce that Cory from Marblehead will not be one of the contestants on tomorrow's final Jeopardy, possibly due to podcast and other TV commitments. And is being replaced by someone else.

re: Markstrom I'm not that worried inasmuch as it feels like we're one more bad game away from Keefe giving Allen an audition at 1A, he's been getting more time the last couple weeks as it is. I don't think Keefe will let Markstrom sink the season the way Hynes didn't let Cory sink 2018, with as much as we had invested in both.

I'm all for revenge or payback but the fact that Cotter said they remember Lomberg feeding Bastian his lunch rubs me the wrong way. They need to win. Plus nobody on the roster would beat him anyway besides MacDermid and I don't want to see him in the lineup.
