Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - part V

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

How do I change my password? Literally can’t find where that is.

She’s officially become the newest meme legend. Up there with the pointing John Tortorella twin brother in Philly, that little kid and the beer drinking dude in Raleigh. I know I’ve left a few others out.

I’m glad someone else caught this, cause I LOL’d when I saw this during the live broadcast, but would have forgotten all about it by now if someone else hadn’t documented it.

Live what down?

You gone a boner for 19 goals on the season? Or is it Meier"s 18 that's giving you the vapors?

I'll correct what the software has done soon enough, but how many Devils have finished top 10 in points for a season? Offhand I'll say Hughes, Parise, Elias, I think MacLean might have one but I think that's for goals, I think Muller might have one top 10 finish, it's possible Gionta did it in 2006 but I doubt that. So that's about 5 guys. Points aren't everything, but Bratt is also consistently driving play, he's added a small dimension of physicality to the rest of his game - he's a complete player.

Muller is the only other Devil with 4 straight 70 point seasons and in a much higher scoring environment than this one. Bratt is consistent. He'll never get the credit from the people that wrote him off 5 years ago, though.

I have more of an issue with a section of this board complaining about how guys like Bratt/Timo don't score as if it wasn't evident that this team needed depth, the top guys are all of sudden playing more freely/better than they have all year since the bottom 6 decided to score lately at a decent pace. Bratt's been having a great year as is but it's shocking what happens when other guys can legit do their jobs like they should've from day 1.

I'll amend this too, the Devils are -72 in 5v5 goals over Jesper Bratt's career here, Jesper Bratt is +34. So they are -106 with him off the ice over that time. Not great!

Goal scoring is a problem and the fact that no winger on this team has 20 goals is piss poor in my opinion.... there are 88 players in the league with 20 or more goals. We are barely ahead of Seattle for 14th in Goals per game in the league.

Goal scoring is and has been a problem...and I see our top 6 wingers as most responsible.

The Devils have all that you just mentioned + lost their superstar forward at 1C, lost their 2C to injury for time + Timo is shooting 3-4% below his average this year and they're still at 3 goals per game pace which is utter nonsense. If Timo doesn't get back to his old ways, then sure complain. Bratt has never been a goal scorer so blaming him for that is a bit unfair imo too. Bratt's probably gonna end up around the 25-28 goal mark he usually hits anyway. The 22-23 year, 6 20 goal scorers and 2 weren't gonna happen again in Tatar + Dougie Hamliton going on a shooting bender. Mercer flirted with 30 that year too and has been struggling to get to 30 points let alone 30 f***ing goals again.

Before the Edmonton game Noesen had the most goals of any of our wingers. Do you really think that's ok?

I don't but again Noesen cherrypicked goals this year off PP1 and had a shooting bender, things happen. Jonathan Cheechoo scored 50+ one year and was never heard from again. You think Timo's gonna shoot at 9% for his entire Devils career?

Timo has 31 5v5 goals in 156 games since he's been here...this problem is not just this year or bad luck.

Ok. Wish the boards were down if this is the first convo we are going with again lmao

Its been a problem in 2025, yes. Hopefully these new lines with Glass also providing good center play helps them end the last 20 games with around 3.2 GPG

Pavel Dorofeyev has the most goals of any winger on the Golden Knights. Does that now mean that Mark Stone Isn't an elite player because a role player is scoring more goals on the wing?
