If the Devils need every top 6 player to show up yearly and everything to go their way a la 22-23, they're never winning a Cup btw. You need to be a good team some years when guys in your top 6 don't show or have off years because of the depth of the roster. You don't have depth in this sport and you're done as a team. This isn't the NBA where you make it on star power alone

I disagree that we aren’t necessarily making the playoffs and still have hope, but I’m not going to watch the games for a while except to check in for a few minutes periodically . Trying to find an acceptable level of engagement.

I was like you where I couldn’t sleep after that game . It ruins my evening and even the next day after a Devils loss ( since Christmas ) That’s not good / healthy . What really sucks is that now it’s wait another 7 months to next season to see if we are contenders or not . That’s what’s really getting me down as after the TDL , I have zero faith that we are making the playoffs and if we do , we are going to get destroyed in the first round .

After todays results. Devils are up 4pts on Columbus for Metro 3. They have 2 games in hand on us. So big game Tuesday.

Devils up 6pts on Rangers, Rags have 1 game in hand.

Devils up 8pts on Wings and Habs. They have 2 games in hand.


Devils have 7 games against current playoff teams, 3 games against bubble teams and 7 games against teams playing for nothing. 2 back to backs.


Columbus has 11 games against current playoff teams, 1 game against bubble teams, 7 games against teams playing for nothing. 3 back to backs.


Rangers have 12 games against current playoff teams, 1 games against bubble teams and 5 games against teams playing for nothing. 4 back to backs.

Hard for me to really care too much at this point. Make the playoffs, I don't care if its 3rd place in Metro or 8th place in the conference.

Get that playoff experience so we don't have the excuse of not having it next season. We are done for in RD1 anyways if we make it.

This team's goaltending v Carolina could be the most hilarious thing ever. If the backend doesn't bumble and f*** around like they did in 2023, it'll be a series. Getting Siegs and/or Dougie back for that series would do wonders. The only dman I worry about in a Carolina series is Dillon, Pesce might have his warts but he'll ratchet it up playing his former team.
 
Road mapping the Devils 6 games:

CBJ - hopefully the difference in goaltenders makes a difference here, I'll say a W
Oilers - too much fire power and elite talent on that roster that even if Skinner gives up 5, we might get roasted by said talent. L
@ Penguins - Similar to today's Flyers games, has to be a win if you're serious
@ CBJ - I think we'll split with them, the home/road splits are alarming for CBJ.
Flames - tricky game but I think Markstrom has a revenge game here and we win
Sens - If this ends up as a 3 point game, I'd be ok depending what the standings look like a week and half from now but I think Ottawa could make a rush up the standings late.
