Sorry. I try to be an optimistic person, but I think the last of my optimism for this season went down the toilet Sunday night. Now I'm just expecting the worst at every turn.

Zero interest in RoR or Nelson. Look at what players are costing. Fitz shouldn't make a trade for anyone that can't get the team over the hump in the near future even if all the stars align. If he wants to make a move, it needs to have the potential to move this team to actual contender status by next year. That could involve a leap of faith and some major risk (EP, Cozens, etc).

I've wanted O'Reilly for YEARS. But post Hughes injury, he doesn't make any sense this season. Would cost too much for MAYBE a real shot next year, especially considering age. Old rental Brock.....NO at these prices when they aren't a contender!

Getting EP40 would be wild, I don't buy he is cooked.

Just not seeing it happening. The price and the money just doesn't seem surmountable.

How would we be able to do that - they both have modified clauses. Trade plus something to dump?

Haula is 6 team, pretty much irrelevant, but MAYBE they'd keep him for 4th line. Last year regardless. Easy move.

Palat is 10, but like I mentioned, the massive jump in cap will make it possible to add a pick and move it.

I can’t see the Nucks move EP40 unless they have other moves lined up to acquire a C or two. We have no C to add in a deal so they would have to flip assets they get to acquire a C . Maybe if they think Mercer could become a C and they use other assets they get to add a C but … I still don’t see any scenario where they move EP40 . Nemec Mercer and ???? Leaves them with no real top 6 C except Chytyl .

ROR has term . And it’s only a 4.5 cap hit . I’d say he is an ideal 3c . Good at face offs , good defensively , can provide some offence .

He's 34, that term is more of a negative than a positive when it comes to O'Reilly.

Nelson, sure. ROR would be this team's 3C next year and can be a filler 2C during injuries and has term. Issue is you run into a Haula 2.0 situation with injuries since he's up there in age.

Well id be lying if I didnt do the quick maths earlier today for every team that would entertain an EP deal...

And nobody can afford him besides us at the deadline; not without a major contract going back

Now obviously theyd have more bidders come the draft but... EP has a NMC kick in July 1st

Soucy has been abysmal since his 1 good yr in Seattle in 22-23

Trading good assets and tying up $4.5M to a 35 year old center is not a smart move to trying and fix the forward depth. That's depleting a good chunk of your assets into a risky player. If he declines like many 35 year olds do then you're right back in the same situation that the Devils are currently in with less assets and cap space.
