And in the end itll be some questionable 3/4C acquisition and thats it lmfao, because thats what happens when we expect crazinessNext 19 hours are gonna be nuts lol
don't you put that into the etherLooking forward to us trading Nemec for ROR...
Don't disagree with the line of thinking. But I think I'd rather take a risk with Cozens. If he ends up a 40 point guy long term at $7.1 you can stomach it. But man, if Pettersson is even just a 50 point guy at $11.6 through 2032....you are f'd. He's also softer and looked like absolute shit in the 4 Nations, including in a game vs his nemesisI'd take the Pettersson risk, even if he doesn't rebound to what he was before he would still fill a role that the Devils would need to spend for (trade/fa) since they don't have center prospects and so you can take the high cap hit risk with the rising cap and Jack signed at 8m.
Well we know for a fact theyre getting a center; unless Fitzgerald just isnt a man of his word, which wont go unnoticedDon't disagree with the line of thinking. Gonna be funny when nothing else material happens and this deadline really just was a stupid, pointless overpay for Dumo.
I would make that trade. Change of scenery could benefit both and with 1.5m retention, works for me.Im not saying i really want this but
Mercer for Cozens + buf retain 1.5 mil of his salary.
I’m impressed with how remarkably consistent ROR has been through the course of his career. The likes of Haula and Palat have scared me away from older players but at 4.5m, he has a very reasonable cap hit. I don’t want to give up a 2026 1st round pick for a rental (see Brock Nelson) so if the acquisition cost is reasonable enough, I like it. We get two more years of him, as well…let’s just hope he doesn’t fall off a cliff if Fitzgerald can make it happen. If we can get ROR for relatively cheap im all in. But a 1st next year is too much
Nothing lolWhat would everyone be fine giving up to get an extended Miko
If you go after Oreilly you ask for retention so you can still add. If you go for Petey you don’t ask for retention because it will cost less because of the cap hit.
Jack is a while away and I think he clears Petterson's $11.6M by then by a mile with the rising cap but yeah perhaps important with Nico.To add to this, if you don’t get Vancouver to retain at least $2.5 million you are setting up a higher floor to clear for the next Nico and Jack negotiations.
Did you see the Seth Jones trade...5 years of retention. So you think there will be retention on a 6 year deal but buying low on Crouse as suggested earlier is some outlandish take
What even lol
Nashville overvalues everyone until summer then they deal them for half of their value. I expect the same is true here unless Fitz is dumb enough to overpay.Yeah I agree the cost for ROR would probably be far too rich. He’d be the perfect guy to have next year behind Jack and Nico. Would really take some defensive pressure off of Nico, too.
Friedman was just on NHL Network and indicated that Nashville is basically treating ROR as if he has a no movement clause. It’d have to be a worthwhile trade for them to consider even asking him if he would go. So it sounds like it’d be far too rich.
His cap hit is $4.5m. A 55 point production, while being good on D and solving a major team need at that cap hit, it worth the risk of further decline for 2 seasons. When a player is as old as O’Reilly you really should be putting way more weight on this decline.
Again, they are 99% getting rid of Haula and Palat this offseason. They are only still here because of their clauses and league cap stagnation.
A bit like Schneider-Luongo situation. They ended up with no goalies. It wouldn't surprise me if they ended up with no top 6 centers.Don't get Vancouver's end game, you trade Miller to satisfy Petterson and then trade Petterson? Would be funny as f*** if we land Petterson because Quinn is long gone when UFA time comes up
