I'd take the Pettersson risk, even if he doesn't rebound to what he was before he would still fill a role that the Devils would need to spend for (trade/fa) since they don't have center prospects and so you can take the high cap hit risk with the rising cap and Jack signed at 8m.

Ok, you guys look really silly saying Soucy is trash and cackling at Drury. He was solid the prior 2 seasons and has 1 more year at a reasonable cap. Pretty much every Van players has been awful outside of Quinn. If he doesn't workout, he can be moved easily. Do you think HF has a conspiracy against the Devs? Because most impartial parties on the mainboard say the Soucy trade was fair and the Devs got hosed for Dumo. Can we stop with the mid off between Fitz and Drury?

Now what is kinda weird is the Rags gave up the Sharks' 3rd, so basically a 2nd, no retention. At first I figured the Ducks wanted to retain for cap/contracts, but now I'm not so sure. Did the Devs really add value for that retention?? I'm not writing that off as a possibility now. And if that's the case....Fitz currently targeting EP would make it make sense...for better or for worse. Otherwise there's virtually no chance they need cap flexibility rn. Who knows.

To add to this, if you don’t get Vancouver to retain at least $2.5 million you are setting up a higher floor to clear for the next Nico and Jack negotiations.
