Also, funnily enough, spending assets to go in a bit in 17-18 had no effect on the future of the team; something im seeing parroted online last week
Next to zero, they lost a second round pick on Grabner, an overseas guy (Rykov) who flopped and a mid rounder on Marroon but that’s a price I pay every time…we quite possibly lost less that deadline than Fitz burned in this one trade lmao

Because this fanbase is overly emotional right now and Nemec is our biggest asset to move for help; therefore he sucks but other teams still think hes incredible and will pay a lot for him

Reality is Nemec is perfectly on track to be a top pair dman for us and he wont be moved just to satisfy the childish impatience being seen all around Jersey the last two months
Since 2015

Tampa Bay has shown that NHL fans sometimes forget theres another draft worth of picks to be had every offseason

Somehow they keep adding talent with a barren prospect pool and no you g roster players to trade since Sergachev (who was mostly a cap dump)

But Im expected to believe the Devils will run out of assets this deadline by adding some talent? Not saying you feel this but its a ridiculous notion ive seen a lot today

I never even said "good". It literally says, in my post:

He was a 2nd overall pick almost 2.5 years ago. He was going to get games in the NHL at some point in time period. Again, Nemec could/should be a good player but it's not in a feather in Fitz's cap that he added Nemec via the draft. The draft is judged usually by mid-late round value adds for GM's. Most fans expect GM's to be able to hit first rounds with consistency, especially top 5-10 picks

And now go back and tell me which of those teams at the player's 21yo season had a defense that was ranked 2nd in the league without said high draft pick

Not to mention the Devils won the lottery from a random downturn season where half the roster was a mangled mess

Once again, its comparisons being made to shit all over Nemec before he gets even a second try before 22. Its comical, really; almost NFL like

My only "grades" were: "Is this guy in the NHL?" - literally nothing else in my post says otherwise. You guys are really, really, really inventing words in my post that weren't there and I simply cannot understand why. I am baffled.
I was fine with your post until I inserted "supercalifragalisticexpiolodocious" into it so thanks for that.

Kovacevic beat out a #2 overall. That's gross

In retrospect you'd obviously rather have Cooley right now but that whole draft looks underwhelming at this point. It could change, but is Lane Hutson really going to be the best defender in that draft? that's pretty mediocre. Hopefully Nemec rounds out his game. He looked pretty good at times last season.

No, thats not true

Kovacevic beat out an injured #2 overall who could be sent down without waivers...

How many times have I heard players are 'rushed'? Now all of a sudden not rushing Nemec is the big fault of his; he shouldnt have went and gotten hurt!
It's not a matter of "rushed". It's a matter of not being good enough to be here. I think that's a problem D+3 for a former #2OA

That is not at all what happened lol

But youre right; Devils should have forced Nemec to play hurt, what were they thinking

In regards to this Cozens talk:

My brother has been an avid Sabres fan for nearly 25 years. Cozens has been a maddening player for them. He has regressed significantly this year. This is not a player I would feel comfortable with being locked in long term at 7m. There is sense of regret the organization has in handing out that contract based on projection of what they thought he’d become (who knows, maybe he can still be that player). He’s basically the Sabres equivalent to Mercer, or slightly better, that makes 3m more than Dawson and has a much longer term. I trust my brother immensely as he’s an incredibly smart fan. It’s a hard no for me.
Im not saying i really want this but

Mercer for Cozens + buf retain 1.5 mil of his salary.

Nemec was starter already as 19 yo player. He wasnt this season because he was injured and team was loaded. You can pencil off this part of the conversation. Now he is in the roster again.

Buffalo wont retain salary for 5 more years not would we need the retention
Okay, than we can ask something from them. Or just live with this 7 millions. But there were some incidents when ex sabres is starting playing better outside from sabres. On the other hand there were incedents when they really dont. So Fitz should think twice.

If they grab Cozens itll be at his full price, which is fine considering the odds he remains a 40pt players are very slim

Likely would involve Mercer going back

He was so hurt they allowed him 9 games to lose a spot to start the season and then missed no time in Utica.

If he was so hurt why did he start the season here? It took 9 full games to figure out he was hurt? That's a bullshit narrative. He simply wasn't good

Nemec has been an injury call up twice. Meaning when healthy there are better options.

He played his way out of the lineup each time.

you are really going to argue that guys don't play hurt at times and that it might impact 20 year old more? Did you go to Facebook Med with Blackwood? It's more likely in your view his talent just evaporated at his age? No question he was bad and was bad in Utica until later in December. Some of it to me seemed systemic some seemed to be on him and some I could easily see as secondary to playing hurt. To be fair maybe he is just that bad. We will see.
