I'm fine with giving Nemec rope and playing him/not trading him. But as of now, Fitz and staff could have chosen better with that pick and don't deserve credit for a good pick.Fair enough
But he did excel at 19 in the NHL. Most were stating he didnt seem to be out of place, before he hit the proverbial rookie wall that is
Makar, Fox, Quinn... all of these guys are offensive studs who took a while (in Makars case he still is) to figure it out defensively; why can we not give Nemec the same rope?
Meh, if Nemec ends up cementing the top of our right side for a long time... thats a good pick, even if a Cooley was still out thereI'm fine with giving Nemec rope and playing him/not trading him. But as of now, Fitz and staff could have chosen better with that pick and don't deserve credit for a good pick.
It's not much more complicated than that.Devils accounts on twitter are yelling that this is leading up to a Nemec/Casey trades to get their engagements and clicks up.
Pretty sure this is a Siegs replacement, defensive dman who plays the left side so we can move Pesce back to RD and don't need to play both Nemec and Casey/Hataaka.
Friedman reported we had zero interest in moving Nemec a month ago and I think someone reported the same thing in the last few days? I would hate to see Casey go for anything short of an elite piece
It gives themIt's not much more complicated than that.
I don't agree - both Cooley and Wright look better as of now and Fitz and staff went for a perceived need. It is not a good pick unless Nemec becomes a top pair Dman, even then he needs to be a quality one - which is more uncertain than it should be as of now.Meh, if Nemec ends up cementing the top of our right side for a long time... thats a good pick, even if a Cooley was still out there
I get this years been frustrating offensively but were still far more gifted up front than on the backend
It also gives another decent PKer. He was Anaheim's 3rd PKer with a 2:19 average. It gives them
Hughes Pesce
Dumoulin Kovacevic
Dillon Nemec
Not great but not terrible considering.
You mean the same Crouse that has 13 points in 60 games, signed for 3 years at a $4.3M cap hit?See what itd cost for Crouse, he could be a great buy-low option
So one season defines his career? You think he got that contract scoring 16 points? You mean the same Crouse that has 13 points in 60 games, signed for 3 years at a $4.3M cap hit?
Do I really need to say anything more than the above? Obviously this is not a "great buy-low option."
Nemec was a #2 pick lol. How in the world would you draft there and not have the player play in the NHL - that does not count as a good pick.
The Devils didnt spend a 3rd in the Dumoulin trade; that article is poorly written and means Traff is a 3rd round pick![]()
Brian Dumoulin Trade Lacks Any Coherent Logic for Devils
It was widely reported this past week that the Devils were looking for depth defensemen at the trade deadline, as they tried to cushion the blow from another rapucksandpitchforks.com
Fantastic article that encapsulates how we are feeling.
A 2nd round pick seems like overpayment but I get it’s a seller’s market. To include a 3rd and solid prospect that is developing well…it’s absurd.
I have to imagine there are additional moves coming which scares the crap out of me. It’s bizarre to me why this would be the first move when we all know where our glaring weaknesses lay.
Fitzgerald put us in this mess. If he continues to compound that in the next 24 hours, I would now firmly be in the camp that wants him axed.
Two questions:
-Did Tom Fitzgerald's regime make the pick?
-Is Nemec playing in the NHL?
I don't see any issue including him in a list of guys drafted by Fitz that are NHLers. It's an objective fact, regardless of where he was drafted.
No its not a great buy-low option when there is multi year risk for us if he doesn't bounce back in a very meaningful way.So one season defines his career? You think he got that contract scoring 16 points?
I dont think you know what 'buy-low' means
Giving him credit for a top 3-5 pick playing in the NHL is insincere because those guys have to be your franchise players let alone NHL regulars.
It’s hardly arbitrary to grade a #2 overall on a little bit more of a curve than a random third rounder. Generally you only get blamed if those picks bust and not much credit unless they turn into actual franchise players.Me: Here's guys that Fitz drafted.
You guys: That one doesn't count for arbitrary reasons.
Got it.
