I like Dumoulin the player and the fit; but the retention is very interesting

My final guess is Dylan Cozens is soon to be a New Jersey Devil. A guy who can play center and then swap to wing if needed, bigger frame but skilled too. 7.1m cap hit for five more years

Add in a rental or (preferably) two-year term third liner and thats just about all the LTIR money

Look, if I fully trusted Fitz I would be totally onboard with making a big splash for a couple of forwards. I’m typically pretty skeptical of deadlines additions being big time positive game changers, but if there was ever a situation that would be the exception it’s this team’s.

The problem is I don’t trust Fitz to make the right move here that will turn out to be a net positive.
 
Nemec or Casey won't be a Devil by 3 PM tomorrow, I would be over the moon to keep both but Fitz is gonna make some trade to save his ass which is ironic because he'd have a mulligan with the Jack injury somewhat

I agree, one of them is going. Does he move Casey cause he's too short or Nemec cause he's been terrible....hmmm
 
Bigger moves are coming folks. If you haven’t been prepared for this then you haven’t been paying attention. Even with a healthy Jack I expected this team to make some wild moves. Thats why I was beating the drum in November that we needed early forward moves

My vote is Casey is move, if either at sll

Nemec has proven far more to this management group. Itd be shocking for them to choose Casey based on a ~10 game sample size or some stats from an absolutely stacked Michigan team

Its very rare you see 2nd overalls given up on before turning 21; i think its mostly fans who feel negatively about Nemec, not the org

I think he's dangling both, and will make the call based on the return.

He shouldn’t have a mulligan for the simple fact that the Devils had incredible injury luck up through January. I don’t think anybody of consequence missed a game before January. Then Nico and Markstrom got hurt within a game or two of each other. The Markstrom injury wasn’t that crippling and we probably even went 500 without Nico. Granted, the stretch of teams was as soft as a trickler through Jon Gillies. And then eventually we then lost Siegs at some point after. Anything missed from Haula’s cremains was of less consequence than a player having to play without their favorite jock strap.

We had Jack for the first 61 games of the season and the record over the 25 games prior was a f***in joke.

The loss of Jack could wind up being the only difference between possibly backing into wild card 2 and missing the playoffs by several points. Unless you really think the team was gonna finally put it together over the final 20 games.

Lindy had Jack and Nico both miss significant time last year, and for I’m pretty sure a significant stretch at the same time. Didn’t save him. Shouldn’t save the American Jesus either.

Agreed but then if they do that why would Stamkos and co bother showing up next year
If youre Nashville you kind of have to pray it was a seriously off year and keep most your guys
