10000000% percent. Even if you don't think there is even anything there there's no way you should ever even let there be any doubt in the first place.
I work in an industry that supposedly needs to be careful about even the appearance of impropriety so something like this rings true for me.

Better for everyone to even possibly getting to talk about conflict of interests by not having the 2 meet whenever possible.

I'm not a doctor so Im not going to try to pretend to know what means what, but I'll just say that I do know that shoulder injuries lead to more shoulder injuries. That doesn't seem to be disputed anywhere. It also seems clear and not disputed that surgery does help.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions about what another shoulder injury means. I think he has enough injury history overall, fluke or not, to be concerned about his ability to play full seasons. But maybe that changes as he gets older, I dont know.
That narrative/argument also existed way back during shoulder injury number one. And here we are, two additional injuries later. It's all well and good to say these are "fluke" injuries that could have hurt any player. That's a true statement. It's also true, and is bearing out in real time, that unfortunately Jack may be more susceptible to those injuries than other players.

Does that carry moving forward? Impossible to predict. But pretending it's not a concern is just putting a burlap sack over your head.

Also not a doctor but I know shoulder dislocations can lead to more frequent shoulder dislocations happening but I have no idea what exactly happened with his shoulder to begin with.

Side note cause I watched the game on delay on Saturday but what exactly happened with Luke where he got that stinger? That was a concerning situation for a moment too. We gotta get these guys beefed up a bit.

This kind of feels like the year Kovalchuk got injured (his last year here) and was out for 10 games, where I think we went on to lose 10 games in a row (not all in regulation) after winning the game he got injured in.

We fell short of the playoffs by quite a few points, but I can't remember if we were still in a playoff spot or not by the time he got injured. If we were then it was just barely. But we had been struggling for quite a while even before the Kovalchuk injury where he missed all that time. In the end it was easier to write off that season as ''We lost our best player, we'll try again next year'' (not that there was a next year for Kovalchuk, but that's nothing to do with my point), but we were looking like we were almost definitely gonna miss the playoffs even if Kovalchuk didn't miss a game, as we weren't winning a whole lot with him even before the injury. Remember, that was also a 48 game season and while we had an excellent start, we didn't build up the type of cushion we did this year before that fell apart.

I think not losing Jack probably would have been enough to at the very least continue our slow coasting into reverse to squeak into a wild card spot, but not having him could be the difference between missing by a few points or more, if we don't start getting a ton of scoring from other places.

And we weren't getting a TON of scoring even with him in the lineup, but about two thirds of our (pathetic popgun) offense lately was coming with him on the ice.

This is more what Im focused on.

We have two really great centers at the top of the lineup, but more often than not both tend to miss a chunk of the season and that sorta sucks.

I'm a sixers fan so what is happening here with Jack is simply Embiid triggering.

Need a thread where we all insult each other and say horrible things so that every thread doesn’t devolve into Jacks future shoulder health, Zacha reunion, Boq being the one that got away, and a Timo vs Zetterlund argument.
this happened on a phish message board i used to read and it led to a complete splitting of the board where half went off and formed their own because the other half couldn’t handle all the attacks and the damage was irreparable

it wasn’t one thread though it was a march madness style tournament and to be fair it was one of the funniest months of boarding i’ve ever experienced

Surgery doesn’t really reduce odds of a recurrence unfortunately. It is going to be more susceptible.

That said he can have a fine normal career.

I think it does compared to non-surgical rehab.

Depending on how severe the injury is, surgery may include:

  • Tightening or repairing ligaments
  • Fixing damage to the labrum
  • Filling gaps in bone
  • Rebuilding bone
Different types of surgery are best for different people.

Some patients, particularly young athletes, may want surgery after a first dislocation to help prevent recurrent dislocations (chronic shoulder instability).

IDK why people are offended by what Frank Seravalli of all people had to say lol.
This team isn't going anywhere special barring a blockbuster, culture-changing trade or acquisition. With or without Jack. 1st round at best.

This...is...the...DEVILS...TEAM...THREAD

We are not debating moderation or whining about the board either, you guys have issues with the forum contact the admins or PM a mod off the board. This isn't open for public debate.

The McCauley thing is a clear conflict of interest. I was surprised - another poster said we only had 4 games with him? But I feel like there were several that were sh*tshows with him as one of the refs.

Ya it was 4, I went through every game. We also went 3-1 with him but even still I wouldn't have him be apart of any games with Keefe involved.

Wasn't the last one his left shoulder?
If you watch the videos, it's pretty apparent that he seems to always impact the board the same way.

Phew, thank goodness Weekes has the breaking news update of “no news” from hours ago.

Woooohoo! This is almost as good as the Facebook clickbaits about teams making important decisions

Oh for sure - but not back to “original” if that makes sense.

I don't think we are going anywhere either but saying Jack isn't an impact player is just plain stupid.

The one silver lining I see with the Jack injury is sort of like how I viewed bringing Keefe onboard. This is yet another opportunity for our supposedly vaunted core to step up and show that this team is more than just Jack Hughes. They’ve had chances before, the excuse was that they were still young or they had shit coaches behind the bench. No more excuses now. This will help us continue to see these guys for what they truly are. In some ways that is kind of exciting.

If the core steps up but the team misses the playoffs because of the lack of depth, I can live with that even though I’ll be falling for Fitz’s head. If the top guys are pedestrian for the rest of the season, that’s a much bigger issue.

This is legit one of the funniest things I’ve ever read here, thank you.
