Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I’ll be shocked if this afternoons game doesn’t go like this: badly outshoot MTL in the first, don’t score, give up a bad goal early in the second, fold.

While I kind of share this sentiment, after the last effort I also wouldn’t be surprised if they came out kind of pissed and play a solid game. They also usually do well in MTL.

I just can't imagine someone will claim Hattaka. Why?
Nemec was better when he was good and Fitz should work on the market if Nemec can't be good enough. I woukd say even if Nemec will start to show, Fitz should find something better than Hattaka on the market if we care about playoff.

I know they play different sides but it’s fair to wonder if the Siegenthaler injury (if long term) affects Fitzgerald’s mindset on Nemec. Could he have been Fitz’ big trade chip that he was going to use to significantly bolster the forward group? Could we even make the cap gymnastics work? Putting Siegs on LTIR would free up a shade over 3m. Even still, would we have enough cap space with that transaction and salary retained?
The problem in this scenario is we STILL need a 3C. I cannot overstate enough how Haula falling off a cliff has impacted this team. I think Fitz has done a great job in a vacuum but failing to draft centers year after year really is egregious.
Back to Nemec… still think he will be a quality NHL player but I’m not convinced it will be here. I am also skeptical he will develop into the kind of player many thought he would be when he was drafted 2OA. With Casey, Silayev etc, a young defenseman is expendable.
This group as currently constituted is not a serious contender. I hate saying that. I am generally more of an optimist but I also don’t view things through rose colored glasses either. Fitz will do something but is it going to be enough?!

lol!! did have Bret “Hitman” Hart wraparound shades when I was kid. Pink colored glasses? Actually, they were silver….so maybe my view on things has been off this whole time.

People should calm down and chill. Not every young talented player is starting hot right from the 19 yo season with 60 games and go without any colds even if roster is full of competent defensemen, asking is high and there was an injury. Nemec is doing everything well for his age.
Edvinsson started to play regularly only this season and he is freaking great.
Just chill. We will not win every draft pick and Fitz will not understand what his situation with different positions will be after 3-5 years.

Wasn't Anssi not only part of the Kovalchuk trade but also the defenseman who scored for us and then was knocked unconscious immediately after by an open ice hit?!

I’m not trying to crap on Nemec, my friend. I liked the pick at the time and am still high on him. I just have more doubts now than I did.

Im talking only about not worry much now. You should understand that shades of meaning are working differently with me.
And its really hard to understand will he can produce 45-55 points and play good two way game or he is more one or another one way defenseman. And it is hard because he is very young and he really didnt even play in NHL enough to show something real and develop his game on that level.

Hatakka played smart defensive hockey with the Devils, never understood why he didn't stay with the team. He could surprise us like Kovacevic.
