The day to day thing was something Keefe said immediately after the Montreal game before Hischier could be fully evaluated. It think it was more a coach speaking out of turn.

Keefe just dealt with a heartbreaking loss to BOS in Game 7 last season and came back so soon to coach this mess. I respect him for that. I think he stays even with a new GM.

Not addressing the MM is Fitz's downfall. Even with MM on the active roster, we clamored for more depth. Knowing what we know now, I can't imagine people are okay with the Pesce signing. We needed a center (Stephenson/Lindholm) and we didn't land them. Unfortunate.

I remember getting flak on this board for thinking MM was worth $4-5M/year.

What do we know now that's different from when we signed him?

Luke can be a guy that does this multiple times a game but I think he was thinking defense first playing with Pesce; I’m thinking Luke will see the softest minutes now and be told to get aggressive when he sees chances to push up ice.

Devils back in 3rd place in the Conference if Leafs don’t come back in their game.

Up 9 pts on CBJ and 12 pts on Rags for Metro 3. They have 3 gms in hand on us, but, the more pts Devils get the harder it will be for CBJ NYR. They would have to win all of those gms in hand and continue at a high pts % to catch us. Which is very very difficult. Devils in a good spot. Even better if they beat Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

Although I am hesitant to break up Timo and Mercer. They’ve been cooking. Would Saad on a line with Nico work? If Saad has any gas left

If he thinks he still has it then he should probably take a discount to play on a team where he would have a chance to be a top 6/9 guy and get some PP time.

If he doesn’t think he has it then he should be looking for max dollars and years, even if they’re low.

If he didn't think he had it, he would've stayed in St. Louis, because I think there is no chance that he makes more money next year even with a good end to his season and solid playoffs. That said, I would be quite surprised if the Devils were the team he wanted to go to - he doesn't have a ton of connections with this organization, someone pointed out that Colliton was his head coach in Chicago.

I think Malek and Poulter have surpassed Daws at this point.

Why would that negatively affect your opinion of the player when it was a mutual decision? The Blues save a little money and cap, he gets to play somewhere else.

Guy with 57M in career earnings decided to give up, at most, 4.5M to try play in the NHL rather than the AHL (and probably less than that). I think that's kind of a no-brainer, sorry.

And even if it wasn't. You would rather a dude stick it out just for the money than try to win at the highest level? Weird take, my man.

Oooooooo, perfect. Then we can trade with Bowman involving Saad and Bowman can lose out on his third deal involving that player.

I agree that given the noise around Jeff Skinner, this seems like the most likely outcome.

I think people would hate that 3rd line.

Saad if he has anything left, and I tend to think he doesn't, likely needs to be with a good center to be at all productive.


Saad Nico Noesen? Too slow I think.
Saad Hughes Bratt? Maybe.

Palat Nico Noesen? Maybe.

Meier Haual Mercer? I want to see to that for a run. Given Meier's play of late, I think it could be good.
