And then they get pissy when you call them out or question their credibility. Buddy, I’m not the one who pulled a turd out of my own ass and called it newsworthy.
I don’t think anyone is pulling something out of their ass. The people who have put it out there aren’t in the make things up businesses. However, they are definitely hearing it from Vancouver sources who are likely putting the Devils out there to drive up the price for another team. The why now is probably because Vancouver wants a deal down and this wants to turn up the temperature.

Stuff doesn’t leak by accident. You do though have to read between the lines and figure out what an objective is.

it's not, it's a terrible idea. in the highly unlikely scenario that they trade for him, you just have to hope that Quinn told Jack he's actually not a psychopathic locker room cancer; however, this team does not need a JT Miller. they need depth for the bottom 6.
Adding another top six player that put up 100 points last year drops someone in the top six down and gives us depth in the bottom six.

Yeah, this was probably a leak to get NYR to pay more. Sharks did this to us with Timo and the Rags in 2023, it's being done in reverse now. If they land Miller somehow cheaper than what his actual value is, then sure/cool. Dougie is 100% gone this summer and Mercer, at the bare minimum, is probably a part of the deal.

Palat will be on the third line to start the playoffs regardless, they're making a top 6 add + 3C add at the bare minimum

That's if there are no recalls between then and now, which is practically impossible. Every recall decreases that available space by a few thousand dollars a day.

Should be fine anyway, I think, Tatar/Bastian would probably the first two guys to go if they need to dump cap in a deadline deal.

I honestly don’t mind taking a big swing now given Markstom’s age/contract, but I don’t know if Miller is the player. I would be really worried about he runs himself out of town after a few years putting a speed bump in our contention window.

Poor Nemec

Eh it is what it is. He's entitled to thinking that way but the Devils did nothing wrong in terms of his development. Like I said before, it's him or Casey for that 3RD for the next little while here since Pesce is here for a bit and we're all assuming Fitz brings back Kovacevic and Dougie gets sent to the moon. If he can't win that spot in a 1v1 then it's most likely on him or Casey has just gotten that much better

This is a terrible idea. Palat should not go anywhere from his current role. Every time he has moved away from Jack and Bratt he has cratered whatever line he is on.

I think dumping either guy is a bad idea too. The Devils as constituted just don't have a 13th forward at all. Who would play in a playoff game if anyone got hurt? Justin Dowling? Mike Hardman? You can go that shallow if you can just roll 3 lines for 20 minutes but the Devils really can't do that, they won't have a 3rd line like that either. They need to be at least 13 deep.

Not sure about these moves with White up and Halonen down? Total bullshit, I really want to see Halonen, there's no way he could be worse than Tatar, and I like Tomas. I want to see him out there wrecking shit and putting up points, it's a no brainer.

Ok then Mercer moves down to the bottom 6, the point is that someone in the top 6 moves down to the bottom 6 to make it deeper that's currently playing up there. Just assumed the 6M player didn't have to be babysat by the two elite talents of the roster.

And it's assuming they make corresponding moves after that, they can also do what they did at the end of 11-12 and let an AHL guy have a run to be a part of the playoff squad like they did with Stephen Gionta. Why can't someone like Halonen be that if he has a good run here soon?

Tatar has been doing cardio for the most of this year and that's coming from someone who's his biggest defenders on this board, he should not be playing in the playoffs this year at all anyway and was pretty f***ing bad in 2023 outside the G7 goal against the Rags

I'm not going to bank on both, but I do think they'll add someone that likely kicks Palat down

I mean @Triumph's post is well taken about Palat being babysat by Jack/Bratt this year and cratering other lines, Mercer is probably the one that falls down in the bottom 6, but the original point was to show that Miller isn't the only guy that argument applies too

I don't think Fitz is silly enough to jeopardize the future for the present... yet.
