Even leaving aside the trade value being off (and it is way off), it makes no sense to move a guy who you just signed to a big money 8 year deal in 2023. That's the kind of nonsense the Rangers would pull.

If Timo was somehow not producing and we were looking to offload him as a salary dump, that would be one thing. But that's clearly not the case. Quibbles about streakiness aside, I think he is delivering as advertised.

I don't think so. At least not mid season. One of them will probably have to do in the off season in a separate deal somewhere, but they don't have to be included in this one. It just may not be able to happen until closer to the deadline.

Yeah if they do in fact have 7 mil in cap space then the cap is the most straight forward part of this whole ordeal.

He also has a full NMC

They're not trading for Miller lmao, Vancouver is probably leaking that to up the price on the Rags who seem like the more likely destination. Also, Palat or Dougie are not waiving for Vancouver

>Most obvious throw-stuff-at-wall clickbait proposal
>7 pages OMGing about it

Guys.

Here we go again.

I can't believe these people are considered "professionals" and get paid to throw out rumors that are no more reasonable than what you might get from a random moron on HF boards main page.
And then they get pissy when you call them out or question their credibility. Buddy, I’m not the one who pulled a turd out of my own ass and called it newsworthy.

Also "kicking the tires" is the most BS thing to throw out there. A single phone call to just ask about what the price might be could be framed as "kicking the tires"...even though it's a fairly routine part of a GM's job. It doesn't mean that there's a real possibility of anything happening.

Fitz wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't at least "kick the tires" on Miller. He's a good player that would help address needs we have up front. He can score. He can play center. It makes sense from that perspective. But then you factor in his age, contract, acquisition cost, potential baggage, etc. and there are plenty of reasons for him to say "no thanks".

He’s a hot head for sure. And there are clear concerns regarding his attitude, age, contract.

That said, if Fitz really makes a move for him, in addition to his own diligence, I’m 100% certain he’s taking to Jack and Luke about what they’ve heard from Quinn.
Also palat who knows him from them playing in Tampa.

I’d also trust Keefe to be able to handle it given the drama he dealt with in Toronto.

I don’t think Miller would rock the boat on a new team right away. The issue with him is the term on his contract.

with markstorm as our number 1 and about to be 35, right now is literally the time to go for it and try to win the cup, the East doesn’t have great teams really. Good teams, but no one that I would say we can’t beat if we added Miller to the mix given what he brings and him being on a team that can motivate him where there is no drama or media insisting like a Canadian market that ups the drama more.

One thing I will say though is JT Miller won't act like he is in Vancouver here in NJ, he'd get told to f*** off by multiple veterans if started talking shit to Jack or Bratt.

so nemec being traded or him being on opening night roster next year whats more likely? because if he isn't on the roster next season then i believe he asks for a trade and that tanks his return

A lot of hoopla over Nemec when he simply had bad circumstances this year. He probably broke something in his shoulder/collarbone from that hit in September for the Olympic qualifiers then he comes into camp with it and looks mid/bad. Kovacevic outplays him, Casey played ok for a bit and then needed to be sent down and then Pesce came back. He got roster squeezed out this year, I don't see that happening next year once Dougie is traded. Long winded answer but yeah, lol.

Even without the potential locker room issues (if Miller really is as abrasive as he sounds), I don't know if adding a guy who turns 32 in 2 months and has 5 more years left at 8 million is a great idea.

thats basically why if/when he gets moved the return isn't going to be that massive.

i'm either way on the guy but i wouldn't let the age or contract keep me from adding anyone if they can help win in the next 3 years.

man i dunno if i see them trading hamilton this summer if ever. so thats the only way you think he cracks the lineup next year?

is nemec askarov 2.0?

I think it’s extremely likely Nemec is on the team more or less full time by opening day next year, because somebody gets hurt this year or somebody gets moved (or moved on from) in the offseason.

Casey is the guy to watch if you think a dman is getting moved, I think.

Dougie will be moved if Kovacevic re-signs. They're not spending 18M on the side of the defense that they have 2 ELC's and young players who can do what Hamliton at a fraction of the cost. That's not what smart teams do lol

Casey might end up being better than Nemec, one of those 2 will hit. The question is just who will it be, lol

With all the noise around JT Miller moving, and all the other noise around his oversized ego or personality, not sure how that would help us. We are still riding good team chemistry, not sure I want to sparkplug that with some crazy X factor.

Giving away who to get him is also a question.
