Totally missed the plot of what he was saying.they aren't any different than the last ~6 weeks or so WITH Haula. Dude was a literal zero for weeks if not longer.
Totally missed the plot of what he was saying.
With Haula out, Hughes and Hischier are getting more shifts. Hughes and Bratt are now consistently second wave PKers. Hischier takes every single important faceoff because there’s no one else.
Haula was struggling offensively but he was still providing valuable minutes of ice time to keep the other players fresh. Without that, we are over extending our top six more than we should be.
I’d be curious to see what Dowling’s TOI is before the Haula injury and after and how they compares to Haula’s TOI.

A retained O’Reilly would cost a ton in assets. Assets that could be used getting a very good player in their prime not a 34 year old that’s declining.
Unless Nashville wanted to do a 1 for 1 trade around Mercer for O’Reilly.

It looks like Haula was averaging around 15 minutes of TOI per game too. Dowling’s increase still isn’t covering what Haula was providing.Prior to the Kraken game, Dowling was averaging 8:42 in the games he played. He's averaging 11:50 a game since then. Pretty significant increase as expected.
It’s killing the team, but it’s even worse when your 3C is now only capable of giving you 12 minutes a game versus 15 minutes.oh I agree the lack of 3C play is what is killing the team consistently. But that was the case even when Haula was playing. He was brutal this year.
He didn't have a point since before Thanksgiving!
I don't really care much about faceoffs.
Struggled and disappointed his way to the AHL all-star game.
I just don't think that exists - a prime Center 3C who has the pedigree and could really put us over the top. And O'Reilly really a 2C playing down to 3C is a luxury we can have for potentially 3 runs. Limited ice time and east coast travel? Could extend his usefullness. This is where I am.
Edit Add: I don't think Tom has any interest in getting a Center who isn't proven to a locked down net positive 2-way 3C. I don't really want a 25 year old or so, who could be a great 3C but isn't there yet. Would rather spend assets for "this guy knows the job"
It's been said - he was still a minutes guy and PK guy - how much was this injury hampering?
Ideally though - 4C come April and someone you can Swiss Army Knife around. Going into April with - jack-Nico-ROR-Haula would be dirty.

Oh I’m sorry. Would you prefer Casey wasn’t one of the best AHL players and Nemec wasn’t also playing strongly? He's a replacement for Casey? We celebrating that?
Where did I imply the Devils could acquire a prime aged 3C? I said if you’re willing to pay a haul for soon to be 34 year old O’Reilly that it would make more sense to use those assets to acquire an actual high end player in their prime not necessarily a center.I just don't think that exists - a prime Center 3C who has the pedigree and could really put us over the top. Success? Come on man.Oh I’m sorry. Would you prefer Casey wasn’t one of the best AHL players and Nemec wasn’t also playing strongly?
I’ll be sure to kicks rocks over the success the 2 guys are having this season. Boohoo.
Success? Come on man.
This is like the "top 5 all time in PPG for an under 20 year old from Holtz"...
It's just nonsense not even worth mentioning... it's not an achievement.
People said Nemec was struggling but he’s literally an all-star, so it’s definitely worth mentioning so the people thinking he was playing poorly see.Success? Come on man.

You really think a former #2 overall draft pick in the AHL being named as a replacement to AHL ALL-Star game is an indication that he's "not" struggling?People said Nemec was struggling but he’s literally an all-star, so it’s definitely worth mentioning so the people thinking he was playing poorly see.
It was also worth you complaining over.
Move on sourpuss and don’t waste your time on things not worth it.

Since Christmas, our best pairing in both actual stats and expected stats is Dougie and Dillon

Uh oh, someone wants to be happy!
Captain Jim to the rescue! He'll make sure to snuff out any good feelings someone could possibly have!
He must be a disgrace. Those stats are more about deployment.
Yay! Our #2 overall is a replacement All-star in the AHL at 21 years old! Pop the f***ing Champaign.
How many top 5 picks are in the AHL at 21 years old?
Another celebration of a baby pooping.
