You joke but.... Lol

I saw something like he has 15 pts in his last 16 games or something. Even removing the 5 point game, that is still impressive for a 20 year old DMan. It is pretty clear that his shoulder injury that he suffered this summer was hampering him the first few months of the season.
I didn’t realize his production has been that consistent, to be honest.

But yeah if that’s the case, it definitely seems like the shoulder injury from Olympic qualifiers lingered into the early part of the season.

It would explain a lot about how he just didn’t look that good to start although part of the reason may have been being paired with Casey.

hot take but I rather keep Hamilton then trade him. Find another way to get nemec up here or honestly just trade him for another position of need. I know people get attached to young players on here but I’m fine dealing him if the return is legit nhl ready talent

It would take a LOT for me to get rid of Nemec.
Yea it would take a crazy amount.

You would have to apply somewhere within the NHL system and just hope you start talking to the right people, maybe one day make it into an office that is around anyone who is anyone. Then start really putting yourself out there as a good hockey mind. With decades of schmoozing and dealing, possibly working your way up the chain. No telling what you will have to do once in striking distance of the job, but it would take even a lot more from there just to have a shot at the GM job.

Then if you somehow did get the job, even if Nemac is still there, someone would need to offer something worth it to you I suppose.

It kind of surprises me how little leeway people were willing to give Nemec for having to partner a pure rookie playing on his offside in Casey.

I like Casey alot, but that was a really tough assignment because of all the little things that are needed for a pair to gel properly.

The communication needs alone were probably above where Nemec is in his development.

We’re gonna regret trading Nemec. Dougie isn’t getting any younger.
I figure dougie has 3 more years of value to this roster. You have Casey then the other kid they just drafted with nemec. As long as you get the right player back the d should be fine

IMO, Casey is a wildcard in the whole Dougie / Nemec conversation.

I think he's proven he can be an NHL contributor - potentially next year, but certainly by 2026-27. But, given the way Fitz has built the Devils D (tall, big, "hard to play against"), I can't imagine that Casey and Nemec could each play big roles on the team. Particularly since Luke isn't super physical either.

Nemec and Casey bring different things to the table, but I'm not sure the difference between themis that big in terms of overall performance. That said, I think Nemec returns more in a trade because he still has some "2OA" draft pick value.

If I were Fitz, I'd trade target a young goalie in the return. IMO, that's the team's biggest long-term need.

TIMO GOOD

been saying it. also athletic player cards, flawed as they may be, have him basically worth exactly his paycheck. His 5on5 play has been really really f***ing good!

I feel like the eye test matches it as well. Puck just isn't going in for him as much as one would like, but he is still producing and playing well

It's also easier to say this now when we've seen the structure that Keefe has brought and the buy-in from the players. There was plenty of goaltending PTSD to be had over the past few years from Fitz's perspective.

I mean, I'm not the one in the gm role and the possibility of getting fired but I knew the systems improvement from Keefe would help quite a lot. That part was never a doubt in my mind

I'm pretty sure the worry is not being able to get equivalent value back

Ofc a goalie trade would make the most sense, considering our weakness. But it's also a lot of teams weakness (meaning there's just not many good goalies available to trade for). The next priority would be a center but trading Nemec for a 3rd C is bleh. Maybe they can trade him for an entire bottom 6 though...to make up for the crappy drafting LOL
