We also need to recognize that he won’t be playing on a line with Jesper Bratt consistently, which definitely inflated his underlyings. While I’d love him back and enjoyed the production he had in the small sample size, Fitz definitely needs to draw a line somewhere low on his contract.

The people who are saying Cody Glass is a JAG aren't watching the games. He came to a new team and immediately was in the right place on the ice, pretty much all the time. He's not going to score a lot of goals or put up a lot of points, but he is a solid defensive forward.

He has actual hockey talent and can skate with other talented players in a pinch. Granted he is made of Glass but if Jack or Nico misses a few games he can slot in and not embarrass himself. He's not old and he fits what the team wants to do it seems. Great bottom six player to have given the need for some actual talent.

I'm not sure if Fitz and team read the boards though. It's not quite like Lou era where everything was super-stealth, but the Devils have never been a team that communicates with its fans over personnel decisions.

yeah, been thinking for a while, if i should post this. but there were things said that TF responded to with the exact same words that were used in some message boards/comments sections. and if you pay over 100m for players, staff etc, you would think someone in the PR departement screens through to get a feeling what the fan base thinks of certain topics. He even made a comment about how he values different opions and felt a need to explain how his group of decisions makers works. because people were critizing the FO for this as well (to many cooks) lol
cant hurt to get more inputs/opinions to make a better informed decision. i could be wrong though

Glass would be a phenomenal #4 center. I don't know who the #3 center will be. I'd like to think that we're going to sign a guy like Pius Suter or Anthony Beauvillier to a reasonable UFA contract. But given Fitz's tendency to overcorrect I wouldn't be shocked if he traded for a bigger name like Pageau, O'Reilly, Danault, or as a I mentioned the other day Couturier.

man, go read your post again, maybe turn it down a notch and people would be more willing to respond positive to your critics. calling a FO mostly incompetent and for others to have no logic sounds indeed arrogant and speaks to alack of self-awareness. i am usually on the same page with you, but nobody is always right and its easy to critize in the aftermath, we should not expect it from a GM and for sure not from ourself. i would never think, that i know better then these professionals and mistakes will be made.

in general, constantly complaining about things from the past and talking down our players isnt helping. in my opinion the Kova signing is fine and was needed, the NTCs are part of the business when you want to bring in guys, every teaam has them. your thinking of overpayment is just wrong, by definiton and especially in the current market environment. ypu are not always right either. Agree that bratt should be paired with nico and thats where you start, but thats just my opinion.

believe or not, as fans we have also have a certain responsibilty about how and what we post cause things here get read and partially flow into decisions that will be made. like lindy said, you guys put on an incredible amount of pressure. so more constructive posts about what should be done going forward would help, then see what happens. looking backwards does not help at all.

So we break down into 2 camps (as usual) Pro Glass and No Glass.

I'm on the No Glass side. If we keep him and he's productive, I couldn't be happier. More than willing to eat s*%t in here, God knows I've done it enough.

I'll always take wins over being right.

I look forward to being mocked about how wrong I was . Gonna throw a few bucks on Glass for Hart as a safety net.

Palat 6 mill cap hit 2 more years - less likely unless attaching a lot of assets.

I'm definitely fine with him being the 4C. Has a good defensive game. Would even overpay him for that role a little bit, I think.

But he doesn't have enough offensive pop to be a 3C on this team. We desperately need a 3C with some offense that can fill in as a 2C. Glass is definitely not that guy. You're gonna have pay for it, but that's just kinda the way it is at this point.

He’s the ideal free agent target. “Free agent” is the operative phrase, which means he probably won’t come cheap or at a manageable number of years. Plus I think he’s interested in other teams. Maybe Fitz can pry a 3C from a trade.
