Cool. Re-assemble the team that didn't make the playoffs while adding a guy that might play in 2030 (or maybe never)
They will have to do something with the d group and ship one off, I think.... But yeah, that's pretty much the only major move I'm expecting.
They have no money and a bunch of guys who likely can't be moved, so my expectations for activity are pretty low. If they make that one trade and can dump markstrom, I'll probably be ecstatic
I expect us to add 1 forward, free up cap space for next summer and trade atleast 1 or 2 D. We will make moves, but I highly doubt we make a major trade (outside of Dougie / Nemo)
I also think Sunny understands we dont need these huge overhauls. Also, until Quinn sign - acquiring assets and cap are the most important task

So why did we get rid of Fitz? If nothing can be done but re-sign our existing guys, he was great at that.

Sunny was hired for the next few seasons, not only this off-season, this off-season will be pretty tough imo.
There is so much we can do. It just isnt going to be changing the core lol. Sunny sees the value in our top guys.
We will use analytics to uncover some low buys, re-work our cap how FLA has it, its why we got the guy who managed FLA's cap as his AGM.
Sunny is going to totally revamp the scouting department. Florida did this when Sunny came around. They got rid of like 7-8 scouts and just used the Analytics to scout players. (We also have a HUGE scouting department. We have like 24 guys compared to Florida's 15 as on today - according to the staff directory)
Also in a more bad cop side, I dont doubt that that is an added bonus as to why ownership likes the guy. Hes going to save them ALOT of money by cutting jobs and replacing them with spreadsheets and computers.

Because Fitz got us into this situation. Doesn’t mean it can be resolved in a couple months. I hope there’s some decent activity but wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t too much. Fitz didn’t leave sunny with much flexibility.
Florida hasn’t done much in the way of drafting since they turned the team over to analytics . You don’t need spreadsheets to just scout guys based on scoring. Canning scouts isn’t something I’d suport. Get better scouts. At a certain point it’s like the idiots that think they can replace everyone with AI. Let’s see AI describe what it is seeing in real time? When can AI shingle my roof? Maybe in 100 years it will be that capable. They had a guy trying to sell AI to lawyers at last year’s seminars. It’s being “reworked”. I am skeptical we see a workable product in my lifetime.

We should just blow the team up and start a rebuild. This team isn't competing with the Canes or Panthers. There are still too many holes and teams all around the east are making moves while we are doing nothing still.
Given that it sounds like they are close to re-signing Nico, doesn't really sound like that's something on the menu. Will revisit in 3 years, I imagine

Cool I dont care about nico he's so irrelevant when Jack goes down the record speaks for itself. I'm worried about keeping the best offensive player this team has ever had from waiting to bounce because we can't win or get out of the first round or past Carolina in the second.
Waiting 3 years while we sift through medicority and first round exits if we even make the playoffs is stupidity.

Your use of "Sunny" to post ratio the past month or two is impressive, you might go a post or two with out it randomly but then pull out a heater like this and you are right back to a solid PPG, or SPP.

Don’t think Jack is moving until there’s 1 year left on his deal if at all. Luke is still here and there’s still a chance this team can do damage in the coming years. I was just saying that there’s a lot more possibilities pf movement next off-season. I think there’s going to be changes this summer, I just don’t think it’ll be that major.
He's not irrelevant if you're talking about tearing it down to rebuild. They aren't extending Nico and then tearing it down
Whether it's dumb or not, it appears to be their course of action.

Do damage how? With what roster? This same shit roster that's struggled to score goals 5 on 5 for two years straight?
We aren't in the west where it's weak outside of 3 teams.

OK. I'll sit and wait. 2012 was only 14 years ago. We should be better in 2032? Is that when I can check back in? Just live with shit for another few years until we find out if Sunny was the right guy. We're Vancouver or Calgary.
The Flyers, Islanders and Blue Jackets blew past us. We can't catch shitty teams like Washington and Pittsburgh.
Vegas and Florida don't care about the draft and farm system. They take your scouting department and your draft picks and steal them on their way to Cups after you developed them. Hey Jack/Mitch/etc? Buffalo/Toronto/etc. did a great job of drafting and developing you. Wanna win? We're assembling a team of guys who's organizations had lots of good draft picks and didn't hit on all of them (because that's impossible) to make our own team of NHL Avengers.
You know why Florida doesn't give a crap about the draft picks they gave Ottawa? Because if any of them turn out to be difference makers, they'll just get them anyway. Let the Sens put the organizational resources into making them great players and when they get frustrated bacause all you do is draft and develop they'll want out and come here.

OK. We shall enjoy another season of missing the playoffs.(...which I wouldn't be too upset about if you told me we're rebuilding.)
