Kovy jumps from 8th to 3rd in defensive rating after tonight. Siegs stays at the top. Siegs jumps from 9th to 6th in net rating and Kovy jumps into the top 10 to be tied for 6th with Siegs and Fox lol. God I love having a reliable shutdown pair.

I really miss that 4th round pick…

For real though. What was Montreal thinking? Funny how we all had Kovy penciled in as our #7 but now he’s playing like a 2 or 3. Absolutely shutting things down with Siegs. Hard to generate anything against those two right now

They apparently don't want anyone playing defense on that team lol. They've been sooooooo bad defensively. Also a really interesting thing with that pair is that they're doing the inverse of what we did defensively last year as a team. They're doing a good job at limiting quantity but an incredible job at limiting quality. On the other hand last years team was great at limiting quantity but did not do a good job of limiting quality

I absolutely don't understand this trade one bit from the Habs perspective in hindsight.

Palat led the team with 5 sog's tonight. Scored the goal obviously as well. On ice numbers for that line were excellent.

Having Palat find his game on that line, not only gets him going but it allows Keefe to slide others down the lineup.

Theoretically that line makes sense with Palat providing the dirty work play for Hughes and Bratt, but it's good to see it actually come together.

It's actually a line combination I've been pushing since the preseason :)

That was the best and most complete game they played since that shutout at the Isles a couple of seasons ago. Total domination. Awesome from start to finish against a pretty good opponent. And good to see Palat playing well. That would be so important if he could continue to play that way.

I looked up to see who was out in total for the Canucks. It really was just Demko and Joshua. Joshua is a good bottom 6 player and we know Demko is one of the better goalies in the league. I looked up the stats for Silovs and Lankinen as well, they are night and day different. Silovs has been Latvian Swiss cheese this season so far. Canucks won 4 straight before dropping last game to the Canes in overtime , so it's points in 5 straight for them. They were playing pretty well prior to tonight's game so that makes the win even better.
