I'm not sure who this team is, but this is the team we've been waiting for most of the season...PHYSICAL, dominating play, banging rebounds. I think they got in trouble in the 1st for doing too much overpassing, now they're firing away knowing Schmid seems to give up some juicy rebounds and is still a rookie.

One interesting turn of events in that period was the Devils trying to push back physically, which immediately resulted in the collapse of their neutral zone structure. As soon as they got out of character, the Canes took over.

Again, there are a lot of similarities between these Devils and the 19-20-21 Canes. Playoff physicality actually is part of our game now, it’s not part of theirs, and the difference shows.

Nothing would make me happier than this guy stepping up into that role! He looks great in Staal’s spot. I wouldn’t overpay Staal to stay, I’d let him go and work on finding another center to fit in the group with Koko and Aho.

He’s looked great the second half of this season.
