I'm usually a huge critic of Allen and have said I wouldn't mind going to Daws if he shits himself, but I don't really think he did that today. I'm not so sure I'm comfortable going in there with Daws on Tuesday.

Between the Devils constantly playing down to these trash teams (along with Noesen probably being added to the missing list) and the missing list, I could totally see the Pens turning back the clock to 2016 with Daws in there on Tuesday.

I don't know, it's a gamble.
After watching Allen on that first goal, I have no problem giving you a shot in net. Allen just sucks.

I've got about 15 years on him and he's already pretty old for this league you definitely don't want me in there.

I've been a huge Allen critic throughout his career, but I don't think he was that bad today. Not a great rebound on that first goal.

And to be honest, my faith in Nico Daws is probably at an all time low and him stopping all their junk time shots today doesn't really do anything to change that.

We had better chances on that 5 minute power play they had (that was probably the best we looked all day) so I don't think that was much of Daws killing it off.

Today was one of the worst games we've played this season. Keefe clearly doesn't wanna bury the effort only because the lineup is handicapped.

Paul Cotter scored as many goals today as Jesper Bratt has since December 19th.

Bratt is soo far down the list of issues but that’s insane

Allen was fine today and Keefe should go back to him on Tuesday. Don’t get cute Keefe
I don't have much confidence in Daws. I don't really think he's any good. And his development may have been stunted by playing all those games in 21-22, if he was even ever going to be good.

But I'm not against using him if Allen really starts looking bad. I don't think Allen was that bad today, and I'm usually the first to point the finger at him.

Wow really? Only 4pts better? That’s surprising
4 points is a big difference. Game 54 last year was the Stadium Series game. After that game they were 2 points shy of the playoffs in 9th place. at worse when everyone gets to 54 games they will be at least 3 points up on 9th. Ninth right now is on pace for 90 points. Last year 9th ended up at 91 points and after 54 games the Devils were on pace ~91 points. Positionally it is like being 5-7 pointes better than last year.

If you remember the Stadium Series was basically the high point of the season. They fell off afterwards. They lost 6 of their next 8 in regulation following that game. I don't think that will happen again. The break should save us on the injury front and we will be in a position to buy to address depth.

Of course if things fall apart again because of depth issues then ownership needs to show Fitz the door.

Like it or not, we are going to have to tough this out for the next three games. Fitz is too stubborn to pay the steep prices to make a trade right now... and Markstrom/Nico will be back after the break.

It isn’t stubbornness, it is that your in a much better cap position afterwards. I think cap space still accumulates during the tournament.

I would give this team a lot more leeway if they weren’t already spiraling before the Nico / Markstrom injuries.
I just wonder how much of that is going to be solved by a trade? If Meier, Bratt, and Jack start scoring at a better clip... if Haula comes back and contributes... doesn't that solve the problem?

Which I think is totally possible. I’m not a Timo doomer and think he can definitely get hot points wise.

We should be able to beat both Pittsburgh and Montreal, but I’d be happy with 3 points in those 2 games.

We probably have a better chance at 2 points against Vegas.

Watch us beat Vegas and have regulation losses to both Pittsburgh and Montreal becuz humpty teams.
