The bad forward depth is legit, especially center depth. It's impossible to absorb losing Nico and Haula when you have literally zero alternatives that are NHL caliber.

They also lost Noesen down the stretch, so that's their #1 goalie, 2 guys off their #1 PP, and Haula. That team is an 85-90 point team.

if some of you mouth breathers talked about timo meier the way you talk about jack hughes, who is the only player on this entire hockey team capable of delivering consistent offense, this forum would burn down.

IF THE GOAL OF HOCKEY IS TO SCORE MORE GOALS THAN YOUR OPPONENTS, TIMO MEIER SUCKS AT HOCKEY.

Meier is shooting at his career % but is also shooting a little less than hed probably like; not recently, but on the year as a whole. Unfortunately, I dont think Timo can be a low-volume shooter and see high goal totals, its not his game.

Though I do think Timo is steadily improving under this new regime! Hell get the goals to start going in soon enough, hopefully

The criticism about depth is legit. But the reality right now is now is there are no easy points. Some games like the last one you get lucky and everything goes in. Then you get games like today where Allen is bad and they can’t win a faceoff down the stretch.

The roster on the ice today is probably a .450-.500 pts% team. But that is what happens to most teams when you tear out the middle of the ice.

Fitzgerald constantly drags his feet about making in-season moves, it's maddening. Other than the Meier trade, he does absolute squat in terms of acquiring players during the season to improve the team.

He sat on the goalie situation until the season was burned last year and he's sitting on the forward depth situation this season.

Definitely part of it in a big way. Him, Jack, Bratt were generally terrible.

Lot of goals on them. They did get the shortie but all of that wouldn't even be necessary if all 3 of them weren't total garbage for 2 periods.

1 goal in his last 10 games.

Continues to be stuck in the "if he keeps playing like this he will scored a lot of goals" whirlpool.

Creates opportunities but just not a good finisher.

There isn't any cap room. The more injuries (or suspensions) that happen, the less space that exists. LTIR is not a good option, if the Devils had someone out for the season, great, but Haula is practicing and Markstrom is probably a month away.
