Not to mention he's clearly so happy to be a part of this group again. Bill was just speaking about it in the broadcast now too.

He's a perfect role player and locker room presence for this group, even if he's not the player he once was.

Kind of why I'm not in favor of trading him. He is solid depth if we need to move a winger up the line up due to injury. He is really cheap. And he is really well liked.

Vibes matter

He's lost his scoring touch (he has 12 goals in his last 100 games) but he does enough other things well that he's fine for his role. I'd rather have a non-finishing player like him than MacDermid and his 5 minutes.
Yeah its always better to have hockey player in the roster who can play hockey other than player who can't.
Btw on my taste having 8-9 goals for 1.5 mil bottom line player is okay, especially when this player is hard on forecheck and playing well positionally.

We were great with Tatar two years ago, we are great now. May be he is the right locker room guy. Who is very good to play against in the same time.

I understand that he can't score on the same rate, but his salary isn't about 15-20 goals. He doesn't have too. But our top players needs rest sometimes and we need competent players on the ice to not worry about them. Tatar is competent.
