The 2nd goal against was unfortunate, but Luke is looking way more steady than I thought he would in general. That’s with his elite skating and offensive contributions too. He’s contributing nicely.
He was hittted by knee in the hip in the moment with Vanecek save. He couldn't stay on his feet. I know some people bury him for that, but I don't think that his fault is big or even exist there. Its a penalty. Overall I really like his game, he does make some mistakes, but he still is veeeery young for this league and unexpirienced for defensive role against nhlers. He is doing very well for what he can do. I would say he is much better defensively than we could expect.

Seems weird for a rebuilding team to have a players only meeting after losing to a good team, but maybe they want to nip some bad habits in the bud? It's not like they've been San Jose bad. Or maybe it was more of a "things are going to get ugly on social media after the new sexual assault lawsuit, so be careful out there" type thing.

All hail the new best pure scorer on the team, Rem Lazar!

All things considered I thought the Devils played pretty good. Special teams was good even though we only had to kill 2 penalties we really shut them down. Another powrplay goal thay hopefully gets Mercer going as well.

Meier had a good game , just kinda sucks ye turned that puck over on the 2nd goal but he could had a goal or two tonight.

I'd say Vitek was our best player though tonight. The goaltending has been better for us the past few games. If Jack and Nico were in the lineup we would of pit up 4 or 5 goals (not including empty netters). Ruff spread the icetime out amongst the the top 3 lines this game too which was interesting.

Chicago held a players-only meeting after the game.

“Essentially just being accountable and playing with the system we’ve installed through training camp and through the first few games of the season,” forward Corey Perry said of the meeting. “We do it in spurts, but we’ve got to do it for the full game. We had a good heart to heart, and we’ll move on.”

Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson was not part of the meeting.

“I wasn’t in on it, and that’s good,” Richardson said. “I think they hear enough from me before and during the game. If they feel there’s something that needs to be said, it usually goes a longer way when the leadership guys and whoever feels a need to speak speaks up.”

The NBC announcers (I’m in MI on business) were such Chicago homers it was bizarre.
Not sure that Devils fans should be referring to other broadcasters as "homers".

Though when I was going to university in the Midwest that was a common trait for all of the then Norris Division teams. Was a constant debate among the hockey team as to whether announcers were supposed to be homers or not.

Feel good about getting those 2 pts. I know Chicago isn't the strongest team, but it was still good to see the massive pressure we put on them still.

Every point we can bank without Nico and Jack will be really be helpful for us.

If we can at least get a point tomorrow this road trip will be massive success given the injuries.

The Hawks also crunched the Panthers before our game, so it’s not like they can’t beat some pretty good teams, even if it looks like the Panthers were the better team that game.

I think on some level it's the Canadian media trying to pick up on what the US media is doing with Jack and to a lesser extent Zegras. Hughes is a bit bigger than hockey with the teenage girl demographic which is a remarkable achievement (source: a number of girls that my youngest is friends with know who Jack Hughes is because they think he is "cute". They don't watch or care about hockey. Apparently he was a teenage heart throb in the AI algorithm feeds of whatever teenage girls social media shows them. Also friends of my middle son who is the same age as Jack bought his jersey when he was drafted and they are very casual fans who maybe watch a finals if their favorite team is in it). My guess is Zegras is as well. It's smart. Build some notoriety with casual or non-fans. People who post on this board are overwhelmingly to watch no matter what so why not try to appeal to those who won't watch?
