Why does it feel so much like a Friday?
I know

Everything is so out of whack since Christmas Eve or so. New Years felt like a Sunday but it was really a Saturday. It did start to feel like Sunday by the 2nd, but it was almost like two Sunday's in a row. I'm still thinking it's a day later than it is a lot of the time.

Tatar gets ragged on more than he should. Even when he couldn’t buy a goal that wasn’t off his ass in the first month he was still finding ways to contribute offensively.

He brings what was expected of him to this point and that is without even being on the top PP unit as well. I like his energy and he seems to bring optimism to the team too.

I think Tatar is great and he seems to have chemistry with everybody. Sure his counting stats aren’t all there but he’s top 3 on the team in pretty much every advanced stat category and is on the low end in terms of on ice save and shooting percentage.

I honestly love the signing and glad he’s on the team.

He's cheap, on a short term deal, even when he wasn't performing I wasn't sweating it. But he's turned out to be a pretty good winger for us. Pretty much what I expected.

I missed that post when it first happened, I was probably too busy bitching about goaltending like usual.

But when I first saw that in this thread, I didn't realize it was a screenshot of a previous post. I thought it was in this thread and my first thought was this a joke and clearly sarcasm.

It's a phenomenon I call a False Friday, and I haven't had one in a long while. Maybe it's because we're getting snow tomorrow. All day long it's felt like Friday.

It was from January 2021. What a difference a year makes.

His points per minute might be one of the best on the team too. I feel like it's probably top-3 on the team. He doesn't get played too much, for some reason. He hasn't even averaged 15 minutes a night this year (or last year) and he played right around his season average for 2 of the 3 games Ruff was MIA. I'm not sure why some of the forwards get more time than him.

Oh lol. I guess you've had it screen shot since last January. Cause I saw Friday on it and figured maybe it was from last week haha.

Bratt and Hughes were excellent together tonight. Blackwood had a good bounce back game, I wish he were like this consistently.

I thought Hischier and Mercer were both good tonight. Bastian, Vesey, and McLeod were all good in their roles.

Solid win, hope we can repeat it on Saturday.

Devils came off a 3-2 SO loss to the Bruins nearly a year to the day when that beauty was posted.

Now admittedly, Makar has become an unreal talent, but what a bizarre post and comparison.

HFBoards is littered with posts like this from the last few years. Including some of our own fans who tore Jack down at every oppurtunity.

I couldn't be happier for the kid. He's proving that he is an elite NHL talent.

The game makes more sense when you realize 9 of the shots in the 1st period were against a McLeod line with Studenic & Boqvist and Mercer with Foote & Kuokenen.

McLeod was with Studenic & Boqvist for 1:55 5v5 and the shots, not corsi but actual shots, was 0-7. That’s not good. Corsi was 0-9 if anyone was wondering. (0-3 in scoring chances & 0-2 in HD scoring chances & 1 GA)

Ruff understandably stopped making it a thing and that’s why we stopped getting caved in so much.

He moved Boqvist with Mercer & Kuok and they were better in 6:19 of 5v5 time. More so in Corsi (6-4), which they won, than in actual shots (2-3). (3-2 in scoring chances & 2-1 in HD scoring chances.)

The Foote version of the Mercer line lasted 4:36 and was 2-5 in Corsi and 2-2 in shots (0-3 in scoring chances & 0-0 in HD scoring chances.)

The Tatar-Hughes-Bratt (10:24) line wasn’t dominate in possession early on and ended up 13-10 in Corsi but got rolling and ended up with 10-4 shots. (12-4 in scoring chances & 6-1 in HD scoring chances & 1 GF)

The Nasty Nico Vesey shut-down line (10:24) didn’t let the Jackets do much of anything, 10-4 in Corsi, and were 5-2 in shots (6-2 in scoring chances & 4-0 in HD scoring chances.)

That was literally the first game of the year too lol. I gave him some shit after that game as well because he looked similar to his rookie year but the definitive "he will never be a star" nonsense was always so dumb. Then he followed it up with a game where he was dominant and creating left and right.

I didn't really like it when he was signed because he's a similar player to all the guys we have.
COVID world I realize how important it is just to have enough NHL bodies to stay competitive. I'm glad he's around.

"So do we know what was going on in the crowd behind the Jackets net in the 3rd?"
@devilsblood
There was a fan over there who was getting kicked out for some reason or another. Fans wanted him to stay. Were chanting like crazy for him to stay as they were escorting him out. Ending up coming back down for 5 minutes, everyone went wild, then security came, took him out again, and then with like 3 minutes left, he was sitting at the top of section 21 and the camera panned to him and everyone went completely nuts when they saw that he was still here. Absolutely hilarious stuff.

Blackwood with a much better game tonight, hope to see more of that going forward!

Hughes and Bratt magic is the gift that keeps on giving....

I think this should put to bed any discussion of whether Bratt is a core piece and a legit top line player. He is both. It can't be an accident that Bratt has consistently succeeded when played with any of our top 3 centers.

Bratt f***ing succeeded with Zacha centering him. It should’ve already been abundantly clear that Bratt is special and should be a core piece

The criticism was definitely over the top at times but so was the premature crowning of him as a star when he was still getting in the neighborhood of .5 PPG. THIS is what a star looks like, these last few games.
