The game makes more sense when you realize 9 of the shots in the 1st period were against a McLeod line with Studenic & Boqvist and Mercer with Foote & Kuokenen.
McLeod was with Studenic & Boqvist for 1:55 5v5 and the shots, not corsi but actual shots, was 0-7. That’s not good. Corsi was 0-9 if anyone was wondering. (0-3 in scoring chances & 0-2 in HD scoring chances & 1 GA)
Ruff understandably stopped making it a thing and that’s why we stopped getting caved in so much.
He moved Boqvist with Mercer & Kuok and they were better in 6:19 of 5v5 time. More so in Corsi (6-4), which they won, than in actual shots (2-3). (3-2 in scoring chances & 2-1 in HD scoring chances.)
The Foote version of the Mercer line lasted 4:36 and was 2-5 in Corsi and 2-2 in shots (0-3 in scoring chances & 0-0 in HD scoring chances.)
The Tatar-Hughes-Bratt (10:24) line wasn’t dominate in possession early on and ended up 13-10 in Corsi but got rolling and ended up with 10-4 shots. (12-4 in scoring chances & 6-1 in HD scoring chances & 1 GF)
The Nasty Nico Vesey shut-down line (10:24) didn’t let the Jackets do much of anything, 10-4 in Corsi, and were 5-2 in shots (6-2 in scoring chances & 4-0 in HD scoring chances.)
