More like they moved down 9 spots and traded a 3rd for a goalie with a .908 save %. Not really breaking the bank, but also not really an actual answer.

It may be a decent backup plan but they may be banking on Blackwood bouncing back

Fitz pretty much said as much that they are expecting Blackwood to bounce back and a second goalie was to replace Bernier.

Decent move. Don’t mind running him and Blackwood and seeing if one can truly emerge as the guy. Reevaluate in a year. Husso’s been up and down the past couple years and you’re committing more to him so I get going after the guy who has been steadily average and you commit less to in case it doesn’t work.

Y’all gotta read the fine print, yes we gave up a second but we got a second back. For all intents and purposes they gave up a third and dropped back nine spots in the second, basically the value of dropping back a few spots in the second is something like an additional fourth or fifth.
So 1.3 picks lol

I like it. Give me NHL average goaltending and pray Blackwood has a rebound. There weren’t many great options.
A young NHL average goalie.
With a healthy Blackwood and maybe even Bernier at some point.

The other option was overpaying heavily for a older potentially risky goalie.

I don’t mind this at all.

A bit younger with a bit more of a track record than Husso but less upside.

I think it's a fair gamble too. Last year was weird for a lot of reasons for Blackwood, but he's still young enough and has the raw talent to bounce back.

He’s .001 better than Blacky lol
he played the last two seasons 79 games and his age fits the devils. blackwood just holdup for 60 games and the save percentage was more like 0.010 worse.

there was no shesterkin, vasilevsky or demko on the market. colorado paid as much or more for georgiev. i really wonder, whom people expected to get this summer. give him a two or three year contract in the range of what blackwood signed for and next summer we can evaluate the tandem a new.

Happy with the move. He’s still young and can improve and his new contract shouldn’t be much more than $2m per season.

I directed it towards a few people who misread this trade, not just you. And triggered much? Holy moly.
