I don’t know if it’s the whole Absence makes the heart grow fonder thing or what, but I’m ready to see Nico as our Captain.

For me, it really came down to that I preferred a younger player get the C and our two obvious choices were recent 1st overall picks Nico or Jack. I love Jack and believe him to be developing into a Superstar, but what Nico has done defensively in the NHL since he was a teenager is just amazing and add to that his own blossoming offense that I think will only continue and thrive under Ruff.

Nico Hischier- Captain for the New Jersey Devils since 2021... make it so.

I'm actually glad for this.

Next Devils game is not far off now.

But also, it lets the Devils continue the Momentum they had in the 3rd and take it into this game (which will be a toughie)

Rango has got to come out. Would take Butcher out too, even though I haven't loved Vatanen so far either.

Im not sure that Gusev has a great spot if they keep Zacha with Nico and Bratt after the third period against BUF. Shara played well against BOS and maybe he’d be a better fit against a bigger WAS team. I’d switch Murray for either Kulikov or Butcher.

Ya I just don't see how Zajac would be anything but a center.

I'm still fine with Zacha at center, but there is a squeeze at the position and he is the clear odd man out. I think the narrative that Zacha at wing allows him to be more shoot first, while having merit, is ignoring the fact that he has been very shoot first this year while playing predominantly at center.

If we go Zacha Zajac ????, I do want a creative passer on that other wing. I think that brings out the best in Zacha. Someone he can make pretty plays with, both passing to, but also receiving passes from(shanked empty netter aside). I like Gusev in that spot, Johnson or Kouk too(perhaps flipping Zacha to RW). Something like Zacha Zajac Bastian(for arguments sake) stunts that part of Zacha's game, and I think it's very important we take advantage of some good momentum and groom Zacha here.

We def went all hands on deck, but on our home ice, the McLeod line led the way in terms of 5v5 TOI vs the Eichel line. And the McLeod line held their own in the metrics.
