I have a hard time seeing the Leafs trade him, though if they did we should definitely be all over it. He would definitely become our 2nd best player instantly. It is too bad offer sheets aren't utilized, but I Nylander is a player I'd certainly consider offer sheeting.

I'd rather trade for Kadri. He'd be our #2 Center we desperately need.

I don’t know if desperately need is the right word.

It’s possible it will be something we need to address down the line, but for now I think Zacha and Zajac are good enough and we should hold assets in case a deal for a D upgrade pops up.

I would rather wait until mid-season or end of the season to decide on a deal. It is very contingent on the development of Zacha. We need to see if Zacha can produce with Mojo and Bratt. If not, I would like to add a 2nd line center who can produce.

With regards to D, I am confident in Ty Smith, Vatanen, Severson, Mueller, Greene and Butcher as starting defensemen next season. If we can get another top 2D to pair with Vatanen, then I agree we should look at this option.

I am 100% aboard the Ty Smith hype train, but i still think this team benefits most from a D upgrade, even if he lives/surpasses his billing.

Obviously if a deal for a center or any forward that makes sense presents itself you take it, but if we need it overpay at any position. I would overpay on D first.

Wanted to get your guys thoughts here. I listened to hynes presser after the flower game and I have never heard a hockey coach take on so much of the blame. He literally went out of his way on four occasions to say the LosL is on him for lack of preparation. Is he trying to protect the boys? Just wanted to know what you thought. You hear that stuff in football, but very rarely in hockey outside of a one liner usually

I’m all for waiting it out until the end of the season. On July 1st we should use our biggest asset in cap space and let loose. Extend Hall, make a run at Karlsson/Duchene/Stone.

The coaching staff had 3 key injuries to deal with, 2 before the game and one in games. Unfortunately the in game injury was a replacement for one of the pregame injuries.

All teams have injuries so this really isn't an excuse but these particular injuries hit suddenly. The Zajac injury sent the forward lines into confusion and the coaching staff honestly handled the change poorly by shuffling 3 forward lines. You not only had a massive shuffle there was very little time between games for practice.

It wasn't only the forward lines, the PK and the PP all needed to be adjusted in a quick turnaround. To make matters worse Lovejoy was a staple on the PK and his replacement went down in the first 5 minutes of the game. Can't blame the coaching staff for that though. It was apparent very early on that none of the lines were working. I would wager that the staff believes that they came out flat because he didn't yell enough or skate them hard enough. Captain Caveman Coaching in effect here.

There’s nothing mutually exclusive about those two statements that would make them anything close to ironic.

two things being mutually exclusive is not a requirement for irony. us putting ourselves in the same situation as the leafs by taking on kadri when we’re needing to re-sign hall, butcher, etc would be ironic, and sad

Hes going to command 6-7+ mil, Id much rather spend that kind of money on a more proven talent - not a guy who has two seasons on the highest scoring offense in the league.

would I sign him? sure of course I would. But id much rather pay that kind of money to someone who I know for a fact is as good as his numbers say

The consensus was that Rooney got sent back down because Zajac wasn't as bad as they thought... but now he's back. I honestly think we're going to be without Zajac for 1-2 months.
