Your Top-7 most hatred teams right now?

Take into consideration all factors including the rivalry with the Devils, certain players, geography, history, announcers, fanbases, etc.

Mine today?
First 2 are locks, it gets tricky 3-7.

1. Rags
2. Philly
3. Rawly
4. NYb
5. Cbj
6. Senzzz
7. Florida

Minny (Zach) just misses the cut.

Easily Philadelphia over Rangers to me. Flyers have just time and time again have been dirty over their franchise. Rangers are easily our biggest rival, but I at least have respect for them, I have none for the Flyers.

1. Flyers
2. Rangers
3. Sabres -- hope they spend years in futility for their ugly tank for McDavid
4. Blue Jackets -- just because they score the luckiest and flukiest goals when they play the Devils
5. Carolina

Other than that, I don't really dislike any team.

I might be in the minority, but I don't think Blandisi's defense has been that bad. He's far from the worst on this team -- Bleed knows who I'm talking about it -- but I don't really think it's that much of a negative to his game. There's only really a couple negatives I can point out for him.

One is that he is incredibly weak on his skates but I wouldn't really call that him being bad at defense. Again, I think that will be improved over time. I do wonder if this perceived weakness is from him trying to do too much at times and skate faster than he can keep up with.

The second would be that he at times tries to do too much. Unlike many of our players, when he gets the puck in the defensive zone, he is looking to break it up the ice rather than hit it off the glass and get it out of the zone safely. I don't think that's much of a negative as much as he has to learn how to do that safely, because it's a great trait to have. Hopefully, with time and experience, he will improve on that so it helps us more often than it hurts us. The last thing I want to see is for him to have the creativity coached out of his game; I've lately been thinking about whether or not that is partially what happened to Josefson under DeBoer.

CBJ misses the cut since they make me hate our team more than I hate them.

Top 7 most hated right now:

1) Flyers
2) Rangers
3) Pitts
4) Montreal
5) Carolina
6) Toronto
7) LA

Your Top-7 most hatred teams right now?

flyers are still #1 hated for me probably now and forever
then the rags, then pens to round out top three

NYR is obviously our main rival but it bugs me WAY more losing anything to philly
That said...Jackson is a good play by play guy and I really wish we had him because Steve is a dope
I also like Clement, even Jonesy sometimes...but Therien is dumb as rocks

Other teams don't even come close but I do hate edmonton for all the shots at #1

I notice so many Devil fans hate the Flyers...I don't get it? I've never hated the Flyers actually like a lot of their players over the years too. Mark Howe, Rick Tocket, Tim Kerr, Keith Acton...I liked a lot of those guys

My Rangers hate know no bounds.

Pittsburgh is a distant 2nd

Edmonton - Buffalo - Pittsburgh for tank reasons. And that one year Buffalo was good recently, before they lost Drury and Briere their fans were insufferable.

Chicago another tank to bandwagon fandom...Can't stand that.

To be fair, Chicago also had a lot do with the idiot owner. Edmonton was terribly mismanaged so even though they have great talent, I can't hate them because their management was horrendous.

I hate the Flyers because of how dirty they are. The acts that guys like Hartnell, Rinaldo, Gudas, and whoever is their next guy pulls is just ridiculous. I hate the Rangers because they are our rivals. I hate the Flyers because they are the Flyers. I feel like a lot of the newer fanbase may dislike the Flyers, myself included, because of how today's NHL has distanced itself from the goon mentality -- I can't think of another way to describe it. What the Flyers do right now was acceptable back then, but has been pushed out of the sport of late.

I guess that is the thing, I like the Broad St. Bully persona. It just screams good ol' hockey to me.

And if you look at my edit.

I like gritty, but to me the Flyers cross the line too much into being dirty. However, dirty by today's standards was commonplace by the 80s and 90s standards.

We have had some great playoff series against the Flyers and Philadelphia fans suck in every sport. Also, they will always hate us because of Scott Stevens taking there boy Lindros out.

I don't conflate hating the (team's) fanbase with hating the roster. Among their current roster I like Couturier, Voracek, and Gost so I don't hate all their players at any given time but I DO hate the fanbase. So by extension I must also hate on the flyers. I even kinda like NoWorth (Neuvirth), he made progress this year and at times looked awfully sharp earlier this season.

But back to the hate...Part of the difference is I'm down in south jersey, which is practically no man's land for a devils fan. See down here if you don't hate the flyers, their fanbase will MAKE you hate them in time due to the venom they harbor for the devils and anything 'jersey' in general. The rivalry has cooled in recent years but it's always simmering.

Philly has a superiority complex when it comes to anything 'Jersey' so being cup-less for 40 years while seeing mickey mouse eventually go all the way a few times created some serious resentment. Particularly since two of those cups were at the expense of philly in the ECF. In particular though I think two postseason matchups and a hit heard around the hockey world made flyers fans hate njd fans forever. Like cobra and mongoose, the survival of one is dependent on the demise of the other. Same could be said of rangers obviously, but since my location is down south I'm around WAY more flyers fans...

95 ECF
00 ECF (they STILL can't get over this one, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory after devs were down 3-1) :handclap:
And then yeah there's that hit I mentioned...

So my hate for the flyers has more to do with wanting to see their fans get griefed whenever possible more so than a hate for whatever roster they might be rolling at a point in time. Although obviously guys like gudas or rinaldo or hate-worthy no matter where they play. But then I hate the player, not the whole of boston for taking him in.

Now with regard to the broad street bully thing...I find that kind of sad these days because I know lots of flyers fans and some still like to embrace that persona like it's a thing. The difference is, they are not...NOT hockey fans, they're merely fans of the flyers. And because they're not fans of hockey they have no clue about the game. Indeed I often know more about what's going on with their team and roster than they do, so yeah that's sad. Hell even one of my best friends is a flyers fan and we bought him club box tickets to the mid-february game for his birthday. Too bad devils ruined it a little wining in OT. :) By the way WFC is probably the only place you'll find anyone in devils red down here out in public.

That game in philly was gratifying to me because 1) the grief and 2) we owed it to them because I was at that disappointing OT loss to flyers earlier this season in OUR house and boy did that suck! Came back to an exciting 3-3 late to force OT just to lose on a crap breakaway. :shakehead

Philly fans in general are bitter, the eagles saw to that
And wow those sixers
The phillies have been circling the drain past few years too

People hate the Flyers in large part cause A) their fans are ******** and B) they usually have a lot of dirty little **** players that are willing to cheapshot at the drop of a hat - Rinaldo-types if you will - cause that's the way their owner wants to play. The Broad Street Bully mentality will never die as long as Snider's there.

And yes there have been some classic, contentious playoff series too although since the Stevens/Lindros era the three times we've played them in the playoffs have been nothing series.

Speaking of contentious playoffs, that 2012 pens flyers matchup :handclap:

Nothing warms my heart like seeing two teams I can't stand getting real nasty and beating the crap out of each other

I could see how South Jersey Devils would hate the Flyers more than the Rags.

For me in North Jersey, Philly sports/news is out of sight/out of mind since I don't get any Philly stations (thankfully).

Not to mention it conceivably could have helped us in the next round when the Flyers got behind they no longer had another gear to go to cause they expended a lot in that Hatfield and McCoy series.

My top 5 hated:
1. Rangers - Team i love to beat
2. Jets - Can't stand their fans
3. Kings - Losing 2012 cup final still hurts
4. Flyers - Nice rivalry
5. Penguins - Don't like Crosby

Ken Dryden has an incredible takedown of the 70's Leafs in his book, The Game. I think a lot of what he said can be applied to the Flyers. They've had some terrific teams but debased themselves trying to live up to some massively insecure, citywide tough-guy persona.

I hate the Rangers the most. No need to explain that.

I think that even if Chicago wins six cups, it will never amount to what both the Red Wings and the Devils have achieved, which is a philosophy, identity and tradition that transcends the players. Obviously, most fans don't give a **** about this.

I dislike Buffalo as a place and, unfair or not, have met a lot of ******* from Buffalo.

Watching Pittsburgh have four of the greatest players to ever play the game and yet they only have three cups...Too funny to hate them.

I find every Canadian franchise, save for Montreal, to be unbearable and somewhat pathetic. Like if you multiplied the NY Knicks six times over.

Everybody else I'm cool with. As long as we win a cup before Minnesota, I'm fine.

Don't hate any teams right now. You need to be competitive to instill a real rivalry, and we haven't been competitive lately.

Hated the Rangers in 2012 for sure though. Hated Carolina in the mid-2000s.

I mainly just hate the Flyers and the Rangers. I don't have respect for teams like Edmonton (ever since tank decade began, anyway), Buffalo, and the Leafs (sorry, Lou) but I don't hate them.

I know they're supposed to be our main rival but I hate the Flyers WAY more than the Rangers. Guess I don't ever take the Rags seriously but I hate everything about Philly, even the Eagles and the overrated cheesesteaks.

Claude Carrier was fired today after 31 years in the Jersey organization. Was called by head scout to tell him that he was done and over with.

Don't understand.....he's the reason why you guys were able to get the future Wayne Simmonds....;)

Catching up some games lately. Watched us beat Columbus last night, and right now I'm watching the game vs the Wild.

I just can't say enough about how much credit Reid Boucher deserves for his turnaround and growth as a player. It's really great to see. So many counted him out, he's been up and down and he's never moped about it.

He's a complete player now, and as that growth continues he'll become a real weapon. His shot is in his DNA and when he gets even more comfortable he'll score a lot of goals for us. The kid is only 22 years still.

Really really awesome to see. Probably my favorite player on the team now.

Reid's growth this year has been very amazing and promising to watch as a fan. I agree. Would love for him to continue to build on everything he has shown this year next season :thumbu:
