Proposal: Detroit-Vancouver

what? It would take at minimum a 2nd (likely more) just to rid of Rasmussen.

So we’re getting Boeser for free?
Rasmussen is a 6’6” 3rd liner who can defend decently well and chip in 25-30 points. He only makes 3M. The fact that you think he has negative value is laughable.

He’s not great but he’s far from negative asset lol. Especially with the premium GMs place on size

Why would Vancouver consider this?
If they think they lose Boeser this summer anyway they get 2/3rds of a 3rd line for basically nothing.

To address the proposal, there is nothing about it that makes sense for the Wings at this point. They finally get a decent 3rd line cobbled together, blowing it up to toss another winger on the 2nd line without a center is pointless.

to detroit: Boeser 0% retained but signed to a extension? (idk what deal but some kind of deal?)
to vancouver: veleno + 2nd + berggren

how does that tickle your fancy, eh?

edit: just to explain, i suppose:

if boeser is going to walk which it seems like(?) then you aren't retaining anything on him with a higher cap hit, you get berggren who is a top 6 player if given the opportunity for more than 10 games at a time and you get a depth player in veleno with a second. No, veleno is not a big piece and I won't act like he is, but you get another center and a pretty damn good playmaking winger that can shoot in berggren.

I wanted boeser last year I think and still would rather have him now. I never liked veleno, but that's neither here nor there, we have enough center depth for at least this season for us to get by and figure out next season when danielson is coming, kasper may transition to center next year, with compher/copp and motte.

Take out soderblom and wings probably do it
Boeser scored 40 goals last year was on pace again this year until the head shot.

He's no longer injured like he used to be, has become a good all around player and based on games played over his career he scores on average at a 37 goal pace over his career.

Just for reference he and Konechny are the same age and has far more goals in less games and a better overall PPG every year but one. Would you offer that shit proposal for a lesser player? If Brock gets traded it would surprise me unless nucks are far out of the race, Brock really wants to be here so I don't think nucks would be worried about a self rental so any trade would have to be for a comparable forward coming back.

That being said if he did get traded I would bet my ass that an extension would be discussed. Brock has earned the right as our longest tenured player and someone who is probably the nicest young man in the league to have a say in where he would go.

This isn't a 32 year old head case with 5 years left, a 2nd is a complete insult as is Soderblom.

Wings and nucks aren't good trade partners, a team like the wild, sabres, Jackets, sens, Utah make a lot more sense, a true 1-1 hockey type deal. Nucks could also add for a player that might have more value.

Nucks really need a playmaking winger, I'd love a guy like Marner if he's a UFA in the summer.

Personally I think the nucks might be thinking about going after a big fish in the summer which might be why a deal hasn't been reached, tho with JT gone Soucy likely moved and the cap going up by 8+ million just for starters, maybe a deal with Brock staying put might be more likely.

We just traded a 2nd to get rid of Walman who also made around $3M while being a vastly better player despite his flaws.

Size means very little when he doesn’t use it

The cap is going way way up. We would easily get an asset back in a trade for Ras.

Kasper ain't going anywhere, especially not for Boeser.
Even if the cap were going down, Ras would still get an asset back.

Extenuating circumstances on that one. Ras definitely has positive value.

Not sure the Wings need to make this move. If he's still available in Free Agency, he would probably be in high consideration to replace Tarasenko, going forward.

Actually, the last 2 games have examples that make one think that Ras might finally understand how he can be effective. He went to the net against Calgary and scored on a tip in. And against Vancouver, there is no way Chiarot scores without Ras and Soderblom screening the goalie. No, he did not get a point, but yes, he did his job.

A guy who’s 6’6 but plays like he’s 5’6 and contributes very little at any part of the ice while making $3.2m?

If you say so
I honestly don’t know what you watch. He’s not super physical but he’s quite good defensively and does a solid job as a 3rd/4th liner. He’s not a great 3rd liner but he’s not a bad one. He’s probably overpaid by like 500K. This is crazy exaggeration lol
