I imagine we will see a few guys rested for this one.

Detroit vs Toronto preview

Matthews gets 60 and Marner 100 tonight.

Expected high scoring game and fairly easy win.
I can't count how many times we've thought that this season only to lose the game. Yeah I know, Detroit was not one of those basement teams that had our number but they did score 7 goals against us in one game, only Tampa scored more than that against us this season.

That comment was based on posts I read in here.

Overtly hunting for individual achievements takes precedence over the choices affecting playoff prep. Got it. Good to see everyone in proper Leafland headspace as Team Tampa await.

There is no cure for stupid.

100 precent yes.

Especially if they get 1 point against Detroit. No need to play most of the big boys Friday. Boston game wouldn't mean shit win or lose.

Bring on whoever in the 1st round. Most likely Tampa anyway.
I have 4 tickets for that one, interested?

– The Leafs’ special teams have both been struggling in April, and while it’s been a little less than a month, the timing and the fact that the Leafs’ special teams have nosedived in each of the last two seasons before letting them down in the playoffs is a legitimate reason for concern at this point. They are clicking at 15.2 percent (19th) on the power play and the penalty kill is at 75 percent (26th).

– So, what’s happening here? On the penalty kill, I am not sure if it’s the lack of legs, the missing personnel (Ondrej Kase), or opposition power plays getting better as the season goes on, but the Leafs are getting crushed on the half-walls now compared to earlier in the year.

Kase had a red non contact jersey up until now. Sounds like he might be getting closer.

I can't say enough how big that is for this team. He's an important part of this team especially for secondary scoring. Makes the 4th line playable now if thats where he goes.

Yep, top priority here besides health over this last week should be getting the special teams in order.

More so about preventing injuries i would say.
Yeah I get that but where is that line drawn?
Just Matthews? What about Marner, Nylander, Rielly, etc? Why play tonight then or the last few games?

IMO, Matthews hasn't looked great since he's been back. If healthy, I'd like to see him rolling into the playoffs not trying to rediscover his magic in game 1.
Plus getting the PP clicking again is vital.

It's a tough call, no doubt.

Matthews opens the scoring tonight and then scores the empty net to hit 60 and seal the deal. Marner hits 100 points. And then rest them before the playoffs. I feel good about tonight, let's f***ing go boys.

Probably the usual. Use period 1 and 2 for playoff cardio while pissing everyone off, then show up at some point in the 3rd for the win.

People are saying that you have to rest the guys in the Friday game if we win tonight but I don't think the team does. We're still competing with Carolina for home ice later in the playoffs if needed.
