Let’s just win, and get Matthews 60, so we can rest guys against Boston. The Bruins always play dirty against us, injury risk in that game is real, but can easily be avoided by essentially wrapping up the season tonight.

Usually I don't care much for resting before the playoffs, but against the B's and how dirty they play us, i full heartedly agree, rest some of the big guns.

Robby has earned this callup. He's been flat out dominant ever since we sent him down last. Excited to see what he brings tonight. Would not be surprised to see him turn some heads tonight

Campbell should play both of these last two games. Needs some kind of rhythm going into the playoffs.

I don't think we should rest anyone unless they have an injury. We've been coasting for a bit now, need to ramp up the intensity again. If you rest guys that's a week between games.
Coasting? When? Maybe the Tampa game. Certainly not the Florida game

Once healthy for game one

Replace Kerfoot with Bunting
Replace Abruzzese with kerfoot
Replace Spezza with Kase

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Mikheyev/Nylander
Mikheyev/Nylander - Kampf - Engvall
Kerfoot - Blackwell - Kase

Though I assume they may take NR out for one of the vets. Hopefully NR has a strong two games here and forces them to play him in the playoffs.
I’m sorry but Spezza should never sit a playoff game.

Muzzin if back and healthy for the playoffs is the biggest boost this team could receive. I'm hoping he is refreshed and motivated.

Question: Is it an android issue, a site issue or user error that my text posts with spelling errors I didn't see when originally posting?

Why?

I respect Spezzas desire but it all depends on matchups. Leafs need a hard, physical forechecking presence on the 4th line is going to make a difference in a long series.

Spezza cares and that is admirable and I hope he comes back for another year, but, he isn't a forechecker and we need at least one such line.

Unless he replaces another offensive player, he is best used during the regular season or in particular matchups. I don't see Boston or T.B as good scenarios but that's just me.

Last year we had Thornton playing as high up as the first line and he was in the playoff lineup. Meanwhile FLA has him a healthy scratch most of the season.

Depth is important. It's up to the coach to make the difficult decisions that place the team as a wnole in the best position to succeed. Balance is key.

The Leafs' special teams have both been on a downward freefall over the past little bit here. Really hope thy can right the ship before it becomes a real problem in the playoffs.

Not gonna be an easy one, but should be a win.

Buffalo, Montreal, Arizona and CBJ, bad teams who have given the Leafs fits, do so by playing a boring, tight checking game.

Similar level bad teams that the Leafs have devoured, Anaheim, Philly, Seattle, the Devils and Detroit, don’t have the size, coaching or the personnel to play this type of game.

Detroit has way less forward quality and depth, Seider on an island on D and highly suspect goaltending.

I’m hoping for an exciting but in the end not very close 5-3 win, Matthews to 60 and hanging out in the box against Boston. I do not want another 12+ goal banger.

If we are resting guys before playoffs, I would like to see Brodie rested for a couple.

Guy has had a revolving door of partners and has played heavy and important minutes.

He deserves to sit and rest a whole lot more than Liljegren at this point…..

Good call. He has looked a little run down lately.

Detroit always plays us hard and bertuzzi plays us on another level.

Want a good effort and a win, with no one getting hurt….

There's definitely a fine line that exists between "rested" and "rusty". Have to be cognizant of the slim yet unfortunate possibility of injuries occurring during these games too though and remember that some players would seem to be difficult to replace.

I want 3 things from this game:

1) Matthews to hit 60
2) Marner to hit 100
3) Leafs to get 1 point.

He’s an adventure with the puck, which is why he probably isn’t “top 4” in a classic sense, but he gels well with Reilly, who excels with the puck, it’s very complimentary. He’s great in front of our net, he’s a beast winning pucks on the wall, his physicality gives us another dimension, and his mobility is fine. I think some of the haters, it’s more philosophical than actually watching his game, they all make mistakes. Former players and the coach seem to get it, the tape doesn’t lie either. We will need more than 6 D in the playoffs, I’m just glad we have depth now.
It's the same haters who had problems with Bogosian and Polak. They can't wrap their head around coaches valuing these types of players because it contradicts their list of fancy defensive stats.
