Surprised Ed didn't get any votes. I thought he was better than Kasper this season. Is he not considered a rookie?

To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in more than 25 NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons

From NHL.com

I think the second part applies to Edvinson, I didn't even know the 6 game in back to back year rule existed

Now it makes sense. Thank You! Hell of a 'first full year' for him.

Sam Bennett isn't a model of success as far as a top 10 pick is concerned though. He produced low numbers in Calgary, got lost in the shuffle and blossomed in another location after he was given up on. So I don't think you'd want a guy like Kaspar to follow the "Bennett curve" unless you're expecting a massive breakthrough in 5-6 years.
Two time Cup winner and Conn Smythe winner.

No to clarify, he’s not a successful pick because he’s so slow to develop for the team picking him, chances are not high he’d be kept around enough to find success. Lo and behold the Flames gave up on him 4-5 years ago.

If Filip Zadina turns into a playoff beast down the road, was it a good pick for Detroit? Same thing.

He wasn't even a playoff beast at the recent world championships. Started in Top 6 with Necas... it ended very poorly for him unfortunately. I went from he is amazing to he will be a solid hand to he will be a Euro Start and a National Team treasure to 'I'm starting to think he isn't as good as I thought'.lol I was positive about him!

Calgary basically gradually reduced his role every year he was there and then traded him and he instantly flourished. I think he's just a case of clear mismanagement and then a team getting bored of their former top prospect when he wasn't "instant superstar" so to speak. Easy to forget that Bennett was quite good in the 2020 postseason even though he was only like a third line center.
