I think he gave the "right answers" for too long and is tired of taking all the blame on himself for Yzerman's rebuild and i can't blame him.

Disappointed player makes disappointing comments after a disappointing season. Not a big deal they're not trading him away for that.

I don't really disagree that Yzerman could have added a better piece, maybe not at the deadline but potentially before when we were on a hot run. At the same time, if Larkin doesn't completely fall off a cliff after 4 nations we might be in Montreals spot right now

I think he got a taste of meaningful hockey in the 4 nations and wants more of it. Unfortunately I think it is possible that he also received some lip service when signing his current contract that led him to believe that the Wings' window of opportunity featured him in the middle of it. Clearly the org feels that the bets are better placed on the next crop.

should have called out his boss for giving Holl and Chiarot Modified NTC

guys that suck that bad should not be getting any clauses
both are ;lucky to be in the league

I think some are conflating Larkin's comment as meaning they needed talent to do better. I believe he was saying it was a gut punch to see them do nothing; this insinuates to the locker room that management doesnt believe in them enough yet

Whether right or wrong I believe thats the issue here and hes the guy who has to speak up on it as Captain

No add at the deadline would have made that team significantly better.

They need addition by subtraction by Getting rid of some of the dead weight on the team.

Prices at the deadline were very high and Yzerman did the right thing in not being a buyer.

Yzerplan would have worked if it were not for horrifying by the brass. Yzerman needs better hockey minds whispering in his ear at the draft table over the last 6 years.

Larkin is upset at the wrong things . Deadline moves was not the real issue with the organization

It has been discussed ad nausem on the Wings board. Half of us believe he should step up and lead his team better, the other half believes he's right and Steve should've added at the deadline.

I fall into the former group.
To your point, Suzuki proactively went to Hughes around 4 Nations break and said "don't break up the team". Hughes' response was, "ok. Show me something between now and the deadline". The team went on a run, he was fantastic, and Hughes kept the group together. I think Hughes was also right not to mortgage assets on rentals this year.

Do Wings fans know if Larkin spoke to Yzerman before the deadline?

Was there much to add though?

I'm sure it would've been nice and Yzerman was open to adding something for the right cost, but just adding for the sake of adding is kinda pointless.

Blue Jackets traded for Luke Kunin and that did a whole lot of nothing.

Rebuilds are painful and don't always work out. Seems like the best case was overpay for an impact player, squeek into the first round get blown out and lose the draft position and assets needed to overpay at the deadline. I don't have an issue pro or con with the Yzerplan, but what happened this year was just common sense.

I don't get it, players demand out of teams all the time. Larking should demand to be traded somewhere competitive and Detroit can continue with their rebuild with a 1st and a good prospect.
