Not used to the NHL style of play - small rink, tighter, harder, tougher. Needs better skating ability. But hey, there’s a 93% chance that I’m wrong!

It requires some shrewd trading to turn into an elite team. Drafting is somewhat of a crapshoot, just sitting on draft capital and expecting an elite team to emerge is never gonna work. Look at how many incredible trades Florida made to turn into the best team in the league. If they just sat on the players they drafted they would have never won. Yzerman just signs crappy players and sits there for years waiting for his drafts. Crappy players and contracts just block any meaningful trades that could have been made. Just a big failure all around.

These types only make a trade that is very clearly in their favor.

The Red Wings downfall into perpetual mediocrity is crazy.

Goaltending sucks, they have 1/3rd of an NHL defensive corps, their forward depth sucks to compound that their best player is Lucas Raymond.

They need their decent prospects like Sandin/Augistine and Cossa to pan out and to get a Panarin or Rantanen to start to see progress. A lot needs to go right here.

Wings lack stable goaltending and a big Offensive threat up front. Have to wait on the goalies. UFA typically only 1 guy and they will pick a good team that has an opening.

Potentially Kyle Connor but doubt he leaves WPG.

2023 I would have thought that was a legit possibility. But with how the jets have turned it around I think he stays so long as the team can compete. He is eligible to extend in July so should know quickly.
