Owen Tippett for Andrew Copp, Dmitry Buchelnikov

Tippett's and Copp's salary cap is pretty close, but Tippett is younger and better, and he's a natural LW. Good for about 30g/season, and signed through 31/32 season.

Copp is signed for $0.6M less and through 26/27 season, can play center or LW, but it's obvious the main target for the Flyers is Michkov's good pal Buchelnikov, who's a natural LW and can be Matvei's linemate for next 10 years after coming in 2026 year.

Buch is kind of an untradeable for me at this point. He produces like a blue chip prospect despite being drafted in the 2nd round. On pace for one of the best under 22 KHL seasons ever. So easy pass for me. For a different prospect in the trade then sure.

No thanks. I’m not trading Buch for anybody that’s not already an elite forward, aka he’s not getting traded. The wings desperately need lottery tickets to get an elite forward. Buch has an outside shot at being that so there is no way we trade him.

This hurts Detroit more than it helps, IMO. They don’t NEED to move Copp’s salary, and Tippett isn’t really the type of player they should be targeting even if he’s an upgrade on most of our forwards in terms of production. Using a guy like Buch to get that done is just adding insult to injury. That kid could be something special.

Somehow, i don't really like this for either team. Which doesn't necessarily mean it's "fair value". Just that...i don't know that it really fits either sides needs in a way that i think they'd be happy with.

Value probably favours Philly a bit...but i'm not sure how much they'd want to push the risk of a mystery box (albeit a good one i guess) over the young player who is already good. Especially not while taking on Copp's contract, which...he's still a useful player and i guess maybe if Laughton is finally moved, he sort of slides into that role...but it's not good.

As a wings fan I’ve seen worse proposals. There’s no guarantee Buch is ever good in the nhl + dumping copp for a genuinely proven solid winger isn’t a bad idea.

The Flyers are taking the risk in this proposal and taking Detroit’s cap dump.

Buchelnikov can score in the KHL but it remains to be seen if he could be a full time 2-way winger that could be in the top 6 wing, especially in Torts system.

If the Flyers were to think of moving Tippett they might want more value than what’s being offered in this proposal.

It was only natural we’d start seeing Philly and Montreal fans start asking about Buchelnikov, because of the SKA connections, his breakout season, etc…. and while I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable, I’m guessing DET would want a really nice price for him. Guessing Tippett isn’t that player, although he’d help them today no doubt.

Buchelnikov consistently creates space from the wing, and those players usually end up doing very well in the NHL. Especially if they have a shot as well. Which he does. That would give them two young players who can drive a line from the wing, taking lots of pressure off their young Cs coming up.

He’s just the type of kid you wanna see over here before making a big mistake you’ll regret. He’s also likely coming sooner than most think. There’s a reason he came and met with DET over the summer. There’s also a reason SKA didn’t loan him out, trading him instead. Also, don’t think giving Tarasenko that 2nd year, didn’t have something to do with trying to get him over after this season. He’ll be a great help to him coming over.

The added year was due to the trade and contracts in the KHL being reworked after trades. It guaranteed him more money this year and some leverage to negotiate with Detroit, but also easier to void than if dealing with SKA.

So don’t be surprised if he voids his final KHL year, and gets to burn an ELC year this spring. He has nothing else to prove in the KHL, as he’s playing at a high level consistently now. If it looks like he’ll walk straight into the NHL, and it’s starting to, he’ll likley come over after this season. If he doesn’t, or DET doesn’t think he’s ready, then he’ll stay for his final year.

Good bet he never sees Grand Rapids.

The one thing I’d say that could make DET interested in trading him is?? They have a lot of kids on the verge of being ready around the same time. Not all will end up in Detroit because of those numbers. So they will end up using a couple of kids to improve specific holes on the roster via trade. Most notably, likely on that 3rd dman, who’s already been through his NHL growing pains.

It’s pretty safe to say, a team would have to wow DET for them to move him at this point.

You started a thread this morning comparing Buch to Panarin but want to trade a depth piece for him?

Kudos on a solid proposal. Personally I think certain players have "the stuff," "the magic," that special "je ne c'est quas," and I think Buch is one of those guys. When I see video of him, he just looks he's going to succeed.

So I'd like to bet on Buch. I think the Wings would be smart to accept this trade. We get out from an ugly Copp contract that we'd really like to move and add a solid winger that represents a "very good" scenario for Buch. My brain says yes. My heart tells me to believe in Buch.

Poster above mentioned it but with Michkov on Philly, it was a matter of time before posters around here outside of Detroit noticed Buchelnikov.

I expect him to play here next year. He's had a rough year traveling at home. He likely stayed home for higher money. If he can make the roster out of the gate next year, he'll be on the team.

Russian's specifically have a hard time coming over and playing in the AHL/ECHL and I don't blame them for having a problem. They legitimately make more money playing at home in Russia(better league even).

Honestly though, if you switch Compher out for Copp, I'd do it. Red Wings can buyout Copp next year if they really want to and the sting won't hurt that bad, Compher's got some pain to gain still.

I don't like it. Buch might be nothing, but right now he is doing very well in the KHL for a younger player which gives Wings fans hope that maybe he is a blue-chipper in the making. Tippett is obviously better than Copp, but that said right now he has played 1 more game then Copp and only 3 more pts for 0.6 more a season. Copp is at least decent defensively so Tippett needs more pts to justify giving up Buch. Now if the trade was a future 2nd round pick and Copp, plus something smaller for Tippett I might do it.
