I mentioned it in the Jordie Benn thread. I have also noticed it. I think it helps him control the puck better with one hand while he's using the other one to fend off the opponent applying pressure on him.

What I noticed though is that when he does it he is unable to handle the puck at all and he looks almost helpless.
